We recently wrapped up this fireplace refresh in a cozy Wilmington ski house, and the difference is all in the floor plan. By removing the bulky raised hearth and installing a custom flush-mount slate hearth, we reclaimed valuable square footage in this small living room. But we didn’t stop at the floor! We also swapped the old screen for a sleek, modern bifold glass door and gently deep-cleaned the brick to pull out those rich Vermont reds, all while preserving that authentic, rustic "après-ski" character the homeowners love. Now, there’s more room for lounging by the fire without losing an ounce of that mountain soul.🔥

Take a look at this before and (almost) after! ✨ The new deck is framed and honestly, even though it’s not finished, it’s already made such a HUGE difference! We went from a dark, dingy and unsafe deck to this soon-to-be ultimate hangout spot. We can't wait to wrap this project up. Next step: PAINT! We know, we know, it’s looking a little rustic right now, but trust us, the final reveal is going to be amazing.

Living in Southern Vermont, we all know the drill: triple-digit humidity in July and a bone-chilling -20° in January. ❄️☀️ It’s a total environmental overhaul every six months! While we love the seasons, our houses usually don’t. Standard hardwood tends to "breathe" with the weather, which is why you’ll see those annoying gaps show up in the winter. If you're planning a remodel, we recommend looking at high-quality engineered hardwood. Because of the way it's layered (cross-laminated), it resists the urge to move. It stays flat, tight, and beautiful whether it’s a July heatwave or a January deep freeze. And a premium 4mm engineered hardwood floor can be refinished 2-3 times, which gives your floor a 50+ years lifespan.

We started with a space that had great bones but needed a serious style infusion to unlock its potential. ➡️ Checkout the before photo!
Our goal was to honor the classic cabin architecture (still swooning over those beams!) while bringing it into the modern era. Here’s how we did it: We traded the dark, dated wood paneling for clean, painted sheetrock, instantly making the room feel twice as large and incredibly bright. The outdated railing was swapped for a sleek black and metal cable system. We re-engineered the awkward layout of the upstairs loft hallway, removing a strange bump-out to achieve beautiful, clean architectural lines and seamlessly relocating the entrance to the upstairs primary bedroom. We are so proud of this transformation!
