📢📢We just might get our 1st snow of the season! This is the time to make sure you are prepared and equipped with the knowledge to keep your concrete protected this winter season (ESPECIALLY newly poured concrete)!

✳️Have your winter shovels ready! No metal bottoms! Plastic shovels work best for stamped and broom concrete as they don't scratch the surface! It's important to shovel the snow off your concrete after EVERY winter event! Allowing the snow to sit can cause pitting and spalling so removing the snow and ice is very important! When you shovel, remove the snow past the edge of the concrete (not to leave a pile on the edge or border).

‼️Do NOT use ICE MELT on your concrete (especially newly poured concrete)!! Even those that say "safe for concrete" are often not made for concrete poured within the 1st year or made for residential mixes. Please use cat litter or sand for traction. These can be safely swept away after the storm without damage to your concrete!!

It’s that time of year again and as snow and winter weather is projected in the coming days and throughout the season, we’d like to remind our customers of some very important winter tips to keep your concrete looking its best (especially newly poured concrete).

‼️Shovel all snow/ice off your concrete once the storm is over.

🚫Do NOT use ice melt products on your concrete surface❗️ This will cause irreparable damage! Regardless of what the bags say- most products are not made for the mixes we pour. If you’d like a slip resistant product to put down on your walkway or steps, we recommend kitty litter or sand for traction.

❌Do not use a shovel with a metal edge on your concrete (especially stamped/decorative concrete) as it will scratch your surface. Plastic snow shovels work just fine for removing snow.

📌Why do I need to shovel my concrete??? Concrete is porous. During the day the snow can melt into the surface of the concrete, then at night it freezes and expands. It continues that cycle over and over until the snow melts- weakening the top layer of your concrete- eventually leading to spalling.

Keep your concrete looking it’s best by following these tips this winter.
