Full garage door renovation just wrapped up in Westminster, MD and this one was a complete overhaul from top to bottom.

New door, new torsion spring, new opener, new belt. When a customer decides to do everything at once it's always the right call. There's no point putting a brand new door on an old worn out spring and opener, or replacing the opener and leaving a door that's on its last legs. Brand new rolling security grille just installed at a commercial property in Millersville, MD and this one is a great example of the kind of commercial work we do at ADP Garage Door Repair.

A lot of people are familiar with solid roll up doors but a rolling security grille is a different animal. Instead of solid panels this grille is made of interlocking steel rods that roll up into a coil drum mounted at the top of the opening. You can see that drum housing clearly at the top of the photo. The open pattern of the grille means you get security without completely closing off the space. Visibility and airflow are maintained even when the grille is fully closed, which is exactly what a lot of retail and commercial spaces need.

This one is motorized which means the whole operation is handled by the push of a button. No manual lifting, no chains to pull. The motor drives the drum and the grille travels smoothly up and down along the side guides you can see in the photo. Getting those guides perfectly plumb and the drum properly aligned is critical on a motorized unit. If anything is even slightly off the grille won't travel evenly and you'll start getting wear on the slats and guides.

The property was still under construction when we did this install which actually makes our job a little easier since we have full access and room to work.

Brand new doors just installed as part of a full home renovation in Owings Mills, MD and these ones stopped us in our tracks when we stepped back to look at the finished result.

Most people go with white garage doors. Nothing wrong with that. But when a customer has the vision to go dark like this it really makes a statement. Two black raised panel doors with a full row of windows across the top letting light in, framed by that natural wood trim against the white siding and dark metal roof. Everything about this exterior works together perfectly.

From a technical standpoint, dark colored doors are worth knowing about if you're considering this look. Dark finishes absorb more heat from the sun which can affect the door panels over time, especially in summer. That's why it's important to go with a good quality steel door with proper insulation so the panels hold their shape and the finish stays looking sharp for years.

Opener upgrade just done in Milford Mill, MD and this garage is now running the way every garage should.

The doors were already there and in good shape, all this customer needed was to bring the system up to date with two brand new LiftMaster smart openers. One for each door.

Looking at the photo you can see both openers mounted up on the ceiling with the belt drives angled down to each door. Belt drive is the way to go if you want quiet operation. No metal chain rattling every time you open or close the door, just a smooth rubber belt that gets the job done quietly and reliably.

LiftMaster openers come with built in wifi and work with the myQ app so the homeowner can open, close and monitor both doors right from his phone. Get an alert if the door was left open, close it remotely, check the status anytime. It's one of those upgrades that once you have it you wonder how you ever lived without it.

The install itself is straightforward but the details matter. Making sure the opener is properly anchored to the ceiling, the belt tension is set correctly, and the travel limits and force settings are calibrated so the door opens and closes smoothly every single time without putting unnecessary stress on the springs.

This was a straightforward door replacement but don't let that fool you, there is nothing simple about doing it right. The customer had two old doors that needed to go and we came in and swapped them both out with these beautiful white raised panel doors with black decorative hardware.

Those black handles and hinges you see on both doors are decorative but they make a huge visual impact. That contrast between the white doors and the black hardware against the brick exterior is sharp. A lot of homeowners overlook the hardware details when picking a new door and it really is the difference between a nice looking garage and a great looking one.

On a replacement job like this one of the most important things is making sure the new doors are properly balanced after install. We always check the spring tension and adjust it so the door sits level at every point of travel. An unbalanced door puts unnecessary strain on the opener and the springs and will cause problems down the road.

We also made sure the existing opener and springs were in good shape and compatible with the new doors before we finished up. No point putting a brand new door on a system that's about to give out.

Quiet 🤫, fast ⚡, and smart 📱. Three things every homeowner wants from their garage door system and exactly what we tackled on this brand new installation in Westminster, MD.

This was a full garage door setup on a brand new house. That means everything from scratch. Doors, openers, springs, belts, all of it. When a customer comes to us with a new build we love to sit down with them and really figure out what they need. What's the budget, what do they want the garage to look like from the outside, how do they want it to feel and operate on the inside.

For this customer the priorities were clear. Quiet operation, fast response, and smart features. So we matched him up with belt drive openers which run on a rubber belt instead of a metal chain making them noticeably quieter than traditional chain drive systems. We paired that with properly sized torsion springs on each door to make sure the openers run efficiently and the doors move fast and smooth. Just finished a brand new garage door installation in Owings Mills, MD and this one was a really fun project to be part of.

What made this job special wasn't just the installation itself, it was the whole process from start to finish. Our team sat down with the customer and walked him through everything. Door styles, materials, insulation options, opener types, spring systems, smart features. There are a lot of choices out there and we wanted to make sure he got exactly what fits his budget and what he actually wanted for his property.

Torsion spring replacement done in Milford Mill, MD and this one was a good reminder of how fast things can go wrong with a garage door.

The customer woke up, hit the button, and nothing. The door wouldn't budge. That's the thing about a broken torsion spring, it doesn't give you much warning. One day it's fine, the next day you're not getting your car out.

For anyone who doesn't know, the torsion spring is that horizontal spring mounted above the door on the metal shaft. It's the muscles of the whole system. It stores mechanical energy when the door closes and releases it when the door opens, counterbalancing the full weight of the door. Without it, that door might as well be a wall. Your opener alone can't move it safely.

We got the call, had a technician out there fast, and within 2 hours from the time the customer called the door was back up and running smooth. Same day service is something we take seriously at ADP Garage Doors because we know a broken garage door isn't something you want to deal with overnight.

Just wrapped up a brand new garage door installation and this one came out really clean.

This was a full residential replacement, two white raised panel doors with decorative hardware in a dark oil-rubbed bronze finish. Those handles and hinges are purely decorative but they make a huge difference in the curb appeal. A lot of homeowners don't even realize that's an option until they see it on their own house.

Raised panel doors are the classic look that works with pretty much any home style and these ones sit perfectly in that brick facade. The white trim framing around both openings ties everything together nicely.

On a double garage like this we always make sure both doors are balanced and tensioned properly before we leave. Two doors means two torsion spring systems, two sets of tracks, two sets of rollers. Everything has to be dialed in so both doors operate smoothly and last a long time.

🔧 Opener and spring replacement done in Owings Mills, MD!

So this customer called us because their garage door stopped working. Happens all the time. But when I got there it wasn't just one problem, it was two. The spring was broken AND the opener was done. Might as well take care of everything while we're here right?

First thing we replaced was the torsion spring. If you're not familiar, the torsion spring is that big spring you see mounted horizontally above the door. It's what does all the heavy lifting, literally. It stores tension and uses it to counterbalance the weight of the door so the opener doesn't have to work too hard. When that spring breaks, the door isn't going anywhere. Trying to run the opener without a good spring will burn it out fast.

Once the spring was sorted we installed a brand new LiftMaster belt drive opener with myQ. Belt drive means it runs on a rubber belt instead of a chain so it's much quieter. And myQ lets you open, close and monitor your garage door right from your phone. If you're in the Owings Mills area and still running an old chain drive opener, trust me, the upgrade is worth it.

Customer was thrilled and honestly the garage looks clean now too!
