Your paint color might not be the problem.
Sometimes the reason walls look scuffed, shiny, patchy, or harder to clean comes down to the paint finish.
For an interior painting project in Winston-Salem or Greensboro, the finish should be chosen based on how the room is actually used. A soft flat or matte finish may look great in some spaces, but it may not be the best option for hallways, stairways, kids’ rooms, or other high-traffic areas.
Those spaces usually need a finish with more durability and easier cleanability, such as eggshell or satin.
The same rule applies to trim, doors, baseboards, cabinets, and window casings. These surfaces get touched and bumped every day, so satin or semi-gloss is often recommended. It gives those high-use areas a stronger finish that can better handle wiping, cleaning, and everyday wear.
Ceilings are one place where flat paint still makes a lot of sense. Since ceilings do not get touched the same way doors or trim do, a flat finish helps reduce glare and hide minor surface imperfections, giving the ceiling a smoother, cleaner appearance.
The AHA moment: every surface in your home does not need the same paint finish.
The right finish can make your home easier to maintain, help your paint job look cleaner, and keep the finished result looking fresh longer.
