🚨HVAC TIPS🚨
Your outdoor HVAC unit (condenser) needs free airflow to work properly. When leaves, dirt, or debris build up around it, a few problems happen:
1. It traps heat 🔥
The unit’s job is to release heat from inside your home to the outside air. If it’s surrounded by debris, that heat gets “stuck,” so the system can’t cool efficiently.
2. It makes the system work harder
Blocked airflow = the unit runs longer to reach the same temperature.
That means:
* Higher electric bills
* More wear and tear on parts
3. It can cause overheating
If airflow is really restricted, the system can overheat and even shut down to protect itself.
4. Dirt gets pulled inside the unit
Leaves and dust can clog the coils (the metal fins), which reduces efficiency even more and may require professional cleaning.
5. Shortens system lifespan
Constant strain on the compressor (the most expensive part) can lead to early failure.
Simple rule:
Keep at least 2–3 feet of clear space around the unit and check it regularly, especially in Florida where debris and plants grow fast.
