First official haul of the garden for the season: zucchini!

What a transformation over the weekend!

We uncovered the big blue tarp and the cardboard underneath to reveal some sneaky weeds trying to plant their roots on Thursday. By Monday all of the weeds were pulled, the dirt tilled, and the veggies planted.

Once some of these baby seedlings take off, I think we should do a garden tour.

I’ve joined city of hope’s fundraiser walk to walk the 5k!! While I may not be able to attend the fundraiser in person, I will be doing the walk virtually. I joined as I want to make a difference in the fight against cancer, as it has affected the lives of many loved ones in my life.

I’m looking for sponsors who would love to support and donate to my goal of $300 raised. Every dollar donated goes a long way. City of Hope is a non profit hospital changing the lives of so many!

Have some lavender blooming! 💜

Finally had a rain free day and got the raised beds refreshed!

We added a total of 20 bags of dirt to raise the level of the soil for all four portions of the raised beds. We had some seedlings that were planted (cilantro, basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano, and white lavender) as well as a lavender plant that survived from last year. Starting some herbs and plants from seeds in the beds too: marigolds, zinnias, parsley, dill, chives, sage, lettuce, and more lavender.

I’ve been seeing this trend over social media that is called“chaos gardening” where you take a whole bunch of seeds mixed together and scatter them with no rhyme or reason. So I found some wildflower mixes from 2023 that are planted in our very north bed and bought some this year that are planted in the very south bed. It will be interesting to see what pops up and what types of flowers I’ll get. One thing is for certain, I’m going to have some very happy pollinators!

We did something a little different this spring with the unusually warm weather!

We put the greenhouse right outside near our garden and started seeds for eight different plants. Today marks the 10 days since planting the seeds and we can already see some summer squash and basil sprouting up through the dirt!

We should be getting a temperature gauge for the greenhouse today so we can see the highs and lows of the temperatures inside. Getting excited to get our veggies and herbs growing this season!
