Customer appreciation post!
This year we started shipping eggs by mail. It is a very labor intensive and expensive process. In order to ship hatching eggs across the US, you first have to test your flock for salmonella pullorum and make sure they're free of the disease (NPIP certified). Second, as the exporter, you have to check with each state to see if there is any additional disease testing (i.e. avian influenza) or veterinary documents needed. Third, once you're in compliance and have checked with said state's official state agency, you can then ship! 🫨 And finally, proper shipping and packaging supplies. Yeah, we're going to leave that story for another post or video. If you're still here reading this, you're a real one. 🫶🏼
We shipped 14 "Pookie" Onagadori eggs from Wisconsin all the way to California! They were in transit for 3 days. Zero eggs were broken upon arrival! 9 out of 14 hatched! A sucess! Yes, we put our back into this to make sure the eggs would arrive safely. BUT, also credits to the extremely patient and trusting customer. They clearly know what they're doing when it comes to incubation and hatching! We're very grateful and excited to have a future collaborator with this special line of chicken. 🫱🏼🫲🏽
