🔥 Cold Weather Safety Tips for Heat Pumps 🔥

This Snow and ice coming will put a lot of stress on your heat pump. Here’s how to protect your system:

✔ Keep snow & debris cleared away from the outdoor unit.
✔ Don’t break or scrape ice from the coils—this can cause damage.
✔ Make sure your unit is slightly elevated so snow doesn’t block airflow.

❄️ Cold Weather Heating systems Tips ❄️

When temperatures drop, your heat pump needs a little help to work efficiently. Keep these tips in mind during extreme cold:

🔹 Don’t Crank the Thermostat Up
Turning the heat way up won’t warm your home faster. It can force your system into auxiliary heat and drive your electric bill up. Set it to a comfortable temperature and leave it there.

🔹 Keep the Outdoor Unit Clear
Snow and ice can block airflow and cause performance issues. Make sure there’s 18–24 inches of clear space around the outdoor unit and gently remove snow buildup.

🔹 Use Emergency Heat Only When Needed
Emergency heat is expensive and meant for system failures—not everyday cold weather. If your heat pump is running and producing warm air, it’s usually doing its job.
