Recently did a floor repair where condensate and random leaks/spills in the kitchen had caused destruction/delamination of the subfloor and some dryrot of the (inadequate) joists. Also, one much smaller area at the back door had been damaged by flooding. Anyway, after all the useless subfloor and underlay had been pulled, the kitchen had a sagging, 2'x4' hole with inadequate (and randomly spaced) joists. I jacked up the floor (2"+), cleaned out dryrot, added new joists, added crossbracing and sistered reinforcement with p.t. doug fir, then cut new subfloor with ⅝" OSB and ¾" water-resistant ply, then finished the hole/patch with ¼" tempered hardboard. Finally, I removed the damaged baseboards and damaged/missing linoleum, replaced the lino with new, self-adhesive tiles, and replaced the baseboard. Voilá. Sturdy, flat, solid and (almost) pretty. (The whole place needs paint, baseboards, and contiguous flooring - owner's comment.) 😁
