Half Price! Large Garden Pergola with Treated Lumber and Powder Coated Steel

Ok, so its actually LESS than half the cost of materials (material list below) and the great thing is you can rebuild it on a smaller footprint if its too large as-is.

* Large, Heavy Duty Garden Pergola
* 24 feet x 24 feet footprint, approx 28' x 28' roof size
* Sturdy Construction with heavy reusable anchor bolts and Powder Coated Steel Hangers and Brackets
* Easy To Disassemble because its all anchor bolts and screws - NO NAILS
* Includes 9 steel anchors to be driven into the ground, easier than pouring concrete footings.

This Pergola was used as a Garden trellis for a couple years and I grew tomatoes and peppers under it - over 100 plants at a time and the tomatoes often grew over the top - over 10 foot tomato plants! Includes galvanized cables, eye bolts, and turnbuckles up above - I used these to hang strings down to support the tomatoe plants - way better than tomato cages!

Materials Used:
(8) 2x10x14 treated, original cost $280
(12) 2x8x14 treated, original coat $300
(9) 4x4x10 treated, original cost $180
(9) Steel Anchors, original cost $360
(12) Post to Beam Plates, original cost $492
several 90⁰ angle brackets ~ $50
Galvanized cables ~ $50
Bolts ~ $50

Total Material Cost ~ $1762

Hello to everyone seeing this post, and especially to you who have noticed you're NOT seeing the greenhouse anymore. I built the greenhouse to use it along with the garden that I built in my back yard. Thank you to everyone who stopped to chat or take a look; the response was invariably positive and that's what kept me going. I had a couple productive meetings with the city, and although I had positive results in my discussions with Building & Zoning and some other individuals, I put the greenhouse up for sale as a "Plan B". Turns out, the right person saw that ad around mid December, and by the first week of January they came out, dismantled it, and took it away to reassemble at their property. I didn't expect that this would be the direction for the South Street Greenhouse, but they paid my asking price and clearly appreciated it's unique design, beauty, and versatility. So the whole process was a very positive experience, from all the folks we met while building it, to the meetings with the city, to meeting the new owners. In fact, I think part of the reason they were in such a hurry is because they knew the city had not pressured me to move or change it and they wanted to close the deal before I changed my mind. In any case, it was a lot of fun and thanks to everyone for their curiosity, comments, and support. Happy gardening in 2023!

How You Can Help - Just post your support here, like, and share - thank you! The one thing that keeps me going had been the support of the neighbors, friends, and passers-by who have stopped to compliment the Garden Area and especially the Greenhouse. At our summer block party, most everyone wanted to chat about the greenhouse and offer their support. Thanks to all! Comment, Like, and Share!

Why We Need Help - the developers put some drain tiles and trenches in this area some time in the early 2000's to facilitate drainage through the grassy area, into the pond, and also out of the pond to exit the subdivision. But drainage into my pond had become clogged and sluggish in the 11 years I've owned this property, so I needed to Restore and Facilitate drainage just to manage this area of my property, prevent possible flooding of my basement, and before any gardening could be done in the South Street Garden Area. I spoke with the excavating company that did the original drainage work and they quoted about $2k-$3k to restore proper drainage. That is expensive work and it has not been done yet, but for the short term, I cleared out the drainage trenches into my pond. Fortunately, this effort has visibly restored drainage to how it was about a decade ago. Your positive comments and encouragement are much appreciated, as there is a lot of work involved with maintaining and facilitating drainage through the Garden Area.

Origins: I started backyard gardening after my cancer treatment as a way to get active again, get productive again, and keep thinking positively. Then, while stuck at home during covid, I expanded my gardening hobby and it became a passion. The garden is now about 2000 ft², and includes a Greenhouse, Water Pumping System, Water Drainage Network, Raised Beds, Compost Tumbler, and Boardwalk. Please Comment, Like, and SHARE! Thank you!
