Meet Jamie, Foreman at Pullman Services, who we are grateful to call a Trade Partner! He along with two other team members, Brandon and John, have been actively working on Stratix Systems' 80,000 SF headquarters in Wyomissing since September.
🧱 What is your team working on at this adaptive reuse project?
“We’ll spend a total of around four months here doing various tasks, from laying brick on the windows to taking out the old floor on level five. Currently, I’m working on adding finishes and new concrete to over 50 columns in order to restore them throughout the building. I’ve never seen columns built like this in my 20 years in the industry. It’s a unique job.”
🧰 What has it been like working on this project?
“Well, I drive from Philadelphia to Reading each morning, so my days are usually over 12 hours long and start at 4 AM. Brandon drives from New Jersey to meet me in Philly and we carpool to the jobsite. This is our first job working with D&B Construction, but the site Superintendent, Barry, is a good guy. He makes sure I’m happy, too. He gives direction and knows how to run this whole large site. We have weekly meetings every Thursday to keep things organized. D&B’s Foreman, Bryan, is a good guy as well. If you need something, he helps you out.”
👷🏽♂️ The coolest job Jamie's ever worked on?
The Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, a multi-purpose facility and arena located in Atlantic City. Jamie was the Foreman for a job that involved taking the stones off and rebuilding the backup wall to refurbish it. : Boardwalk Hall was declared a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1987. It is one of the few surviving buildings from Atlantic City’s early heyday as a seaside resort. Built in 1926, this building can accommodate nearly 15,00 people for concerts, was home to the Miss America Pageant, and contains the world’s largest musical instrument – a pipe organ with over 33,000 pipes.
