Check this out this Friday and Saturday - and come say hello to our Penn State Master Gardeners of York County while you're there! We will have tons of information about native plants to share and look forward to answering your garden questions!

Welcome summer with a leisurely day of fun and food, celebrating the beautiful native Serviceberry tree, a delight for birds, pollinators, and people. Enjoy free tastings of serviceberries and cake, along with serviceberry and elderberry wines, all made with berries organically grown here at Heartwood. Bring your children for fun with magic and art in the Fairie Garden, and enjoy toe tappin' tunes by local musicians. Talk with local conservationists, and tour Heartwood in its summer glory!

🌞The weather is looking great - come out and work alongside Penn State Master Gardeners of York County at the Rudy Park demonstration gardens (400 Mundis Race Road, York - by the parks office) this Saturday, June 20 from 9 - 11 am as part of Explore York County PA Makers Spirit event! Whether you are a new or experienced gardener, we invite you to get to know us and experience the gardens together!

Please note, you must be at least 18 years old for this event.

Registration for the Gardening for Butterflies workshop on Thursday, June 18 with the Penn State Master Gardeners of York County closes on Monday, June 15! Don't wait to sign up!

This small group workshop is held at the York County ParksHanover Junction demonstration garden and will have attendees up close and engaged in learning how to bring butterflies to your home garden - it's easier than you may think!

Learn about how to provide the essentials of creating a thriving butterfly garden, identify host and nectar plants, and learn about the many beneficial butterflies you can bring to your home garden space. Registration in the comments.

The Penn State Master Gardeners of York County are thrilled to be a part of this year's Makers Spirit Event in partnership with Explore York County PA celebrating the creativity and craftsmanship that makes York County so unique!

If you've ever wondered what it's like to be a Master Gardener and wished you could get a behind-the-scenes peek into what makes the York County Parks Rudy Park demonstration gardens possible, then this is your chance! Master Gardeners maintain a 50-bed demonstration garden (vegetables, brambles, fruit trees, native plant gardens, children's garden, educational compost site, and more!) + donate an average of 5,000 lbs. of fresh produce from the garden to local food pantries.

Come spend the morning with us on Saturday, June 20, from 9:00 - 11:00 am for a fun and educational experience, working alongside Master Gardeners at various garden beds! Master Gardeners will be available to share gardening information about a variety of our garden beds. There will also be Master Gardeners available to give garden tours and answer questions.

You can find the demonstration garden beds at: 400 Mundis Race Road by the Parks office. Please note - this opportunity is only for those 18 and older. Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

Every gardener loves to talk plants with fellow gardeners, right? This week the Penn State Master Gardeners of York County did just that at the member Plant Swap Potluck social! Catching up with fellow Master Gardeners, enjoying a delicious shared meal, laughter and of course - everyone went home with several new plants for their garden.

Thank you to all the Master Gardeners who make the program so special for the community - and each other, too. 💚

Growing Herbs: Gardening Basics registration closes tomorrow, June 2! The class is Thursday, June 4 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the York County Parks John Rudy Park demonstration gardens.

There are only 2 spots left in this small-group workshop that will have attendees learning from Penn State Master Gardeners of York County all about herbs - from plant ID, best gardening practices, what herbs grow best together, and how to make the most of your herb gardening season.

Calling all beginner and experienced herb gardeners! The Penn State Master Gardeners of York County have a Growing Herbs: Gardening Basics workshop coming up on Thursday, June 4, from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the York County Parks John Rudy Park herb demonstration garden beds!

Want to learn how to best care for, water, and harvest your herbs all season long? Interested in also seeing what herbs to plant together, and practice some plant ID along the way, too? Then this class is for you!
