Over the course of my career, I have carried many titles: Advocate, Mentor, Designer, Board Member, and Residential Designer. While this moment was anticipated, it is now official — I can proudly add President-Elect to that list.

This title is both an honor and a privilege. But beyond the position itself, it represents something far greater. It is a history-making milestone that allows children and young designers of color to look at this achievement and say, “If he can do it, so can I.”

I may be the first in the history of the American Institute of Building Design to hold this distinction, but I will not be the last.

While I have said it many times, I do not do things simply for recognition. I do them because I have been blessed with an opportunity to serve. This however, is something that I will cherish forever. As residential designers, it our task to improve the design industry, elevate fellow designers, educate others and share why we are proud to belong to the American Institute of Building Design.

Clokey Companies was honored to be working with Mayor Bryan Tedesco and bringing a vision to the community of Campbell. A vision that included a plan for growth and development in a way that the community had never seen before. That was who he was, bold, a visionary, and in every way a true asset to our community.
