Today, we pause to solemnly remember the events of September 11, 2001. Twenty-four years ago, our nation was struck by an act of cowardice and terror that forever changed the course of our history. In a matter of moments, thousands of innocent lives were lost, and the scars of that day remain with us still.
Nearly 3,000 men, women, and children perished on that tragic morning, and many more have since endured lasting illnesses as a result of their service and sacrifice in the days that followed. We honor their memory, and we extend our thoughts and prayers to the families and loved ones who continue to bear the weight of their loss.
We also honor the extraordinary courage of the first responders—firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and others—who rushed toward danger as so many fled to safety. Carrying heavy equipment, facing unimaginable conditions, and knowing the risks before them, they ascended the towers and entered the unknown. Their selflessness and sacrifice remain a testament to the highest ideals of duty and service.
From the ashes of that day arose a solemn vow: “Never Forget.” These words are more than a phrase; they are a pledge to remember the lives lost, to honor the heroes who stood in the breach, and to preserve the unity that carried us forward.
Today, we stand united in memory of many, in honor of all, and we reaffirm our commitment to never forget. 🇺🇸
