UPDATE: Thank you all so much for your support yesterday! All flowers sold yesterday therefore the stand will not be out today 6/14. If you need any other items from the stand please let us know and we can make that happen! Keep watch on the page so you’ll know when more flower blooms are available!

💐 The Flower Stand, Boutique Trolley, or whatever we want to name this beautiful cart Mr. Huber made, is ready for your visit! 🎉

My daughter Makenna has placed her handmade earrings on the cart to help fund her way to a track camp at the University of Cincinnati in July 💕 You’ll be stylin’ if you buy a pair 🕶️

Of course gorgeous flowers featuring snapdragons, zinnias, bachelor button, celosia, cosmos, and so many other flowers are in beautiful vases waiting for you to enjoy 💐

My hand designed coloring books are out, paint your own plaster magnet kits, non toxic bug spray, loofahs, blind dates with books, mystery puzzle packs, AND Nana added a new goose swimsuit to the cart!

Located on Harding Rd. Zanesville.
Thank you for supporting us!

Hello there!!

My apologies for not updating you all earlier. Unfortunately, I will not have the stand out this weekend. Nana needed a little extra care and family is always the most important thing!

Sooooo,

Meet the loofah.

Not the sponge.

The plant that eventually becomes the sponge.

Every February, while Ohio is still trying to decide whether it's winter or spring, I start these little seeds indoors.

At this stage they look tiny, adorable, and completely incapable of causing problems.

That is a lie.

A few weeks later they're climbing.

Then flowering.

Then producing what looks like tiny baby cucumbers.

And that's when the trouble begins.

Loofahs take about 180 to 200 days from seed to harvest, so growing them is basically a long-term commitment.

Like adopting a puppy.

Except puppies don't usually try to take over an entire garden arch.

Last year I planted just TWO loofah plants.

Two.

By August they had completely swallowed this arch.

I wasn't growing loofahs anymore.

I was negotiating with them.

Look at the size of these things!

For perspective, here's my son's hand.

And here's my son standing next to the arch.

At one point I wasn't sure if I was growing loofahs or raising prehistoric vegetables.

My first year growing them I harvested 5 loofahs.

Five.

Last year?

Fifty-six.

Apparently they found confidence.

By late summer they were hanging everywhere like giant green sausages from the sky.

Then comes harvest time.

We peel them, clean them, dry them, and magically what's left is the sponge you've probably seen in stores.

Except these came from my backyard.

And they're useful for just about everything.

Bath sponges.

Shower scrubbers.

Dish scrubbers.

Soap savers.

Kitchen cleaning pads.

Craft projects.

Gift baskets.

Seed starters.

Even pet toys and garden projects.

Nature basically said, "Let's make a cucumber that's secretly a sponge."

And honestly?

It's one of the coolest things I grow.

So if you're wondering whether you should grow loofahs... or just buy them from me..

The answer is yes.

Just be prepared for them to become the main character in your life.

🎉Exciting garden update at Huber’s Backyard Blooms 🎉

The garden is entering its “everything all at once” phase.

Flowers are starting to bloom, buds are forming, plants are doubling in size. Everyday there is something new happening that stirs up excitement. 🕺🏼

Meanwhile, the flower cart is coming together beautifully thanks to my husband, Ernie, who has fully embraced his role as Master Builder of Backyard Blooms Headquarters. 🔨 He’s turning my hand sketched drawings and ideas and “what if we…” conversations into something real and I can’t wait for you to see it!

If all goes well the cart will be out this weekend with new blooms and many other new surprises!

Stay tuned for more updates this week- flowers are growing, the cart is coming together, and we’re getting closer every day!

Hi to all the new followers of Huber’s Backyard Blooms 🌿🌸

With so many new faces here, I thought it was time to introduce myself — the creator, grower, bouquet maker, social media poster, occasional construction assistant, and everything in between behind Huber’s Backyard Blooms.

I’m Katie — mom to 3 wonderful kids, dog mom to Mr. Sterling, and wife to my husband Ernie for 18 years.

By day, I work as an oncology data specialist. My job is meaningful and important, but spending every day reading about and working with cancer can quietly take a toll on your heart over time. Somewhere along the way, I realized I needed a place to breathe again — and for me, that place became the garden.

The garden became where I found joy again. It became therapy, peace, creativity, and a reminder that beautiful things still grow, even during difficult seasons. It helped refill my cup so I could continue doing the important work I do each day.

My love for gardening and creating really began with my mom, who many of you know as Nana, the goose extraordinaire. Growing up, we’d take walks picking wildflowers to arrange in little vases at home. We painted together, watched home renovation shows, and suddenly considered ourselves fully qualified contractors. If we saw something creative, our first thought was always, “We can do that.”

That “I can do that” gene runs deep in our family — all the way back to my great-grandmas. (See the Lego trunk or treat theme I dreamt up and created from scratch for example).

Huber’s Backyard Blooms came to life because it was Nana’s dream (and honestly mine too) to have a backyard overflowing with flowers. But when Nana began her fight against cancer, it felt like the right time to stop waiting and finally make the dream happen.

What I love most about this little business is that I get to grow what I truly love. I get to choose flowers based on beauty and joy, I get to craft, thrift (another favorite of mine) and I get to keep things affordable for families. And I get to share not only flowers, but so many handmade and heartfelt things my family creates too.

Thank you for being here and supporting this dream. Every like, share, comment, and purchase truly means more than you know. 🌷I am so excited for more flowers to come soon! Stay posted for when I have the stand out again. For now, stay dry!

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by, shared a post, followed along, made a purchase, or simply cheered on my little flower stand this weekend. 🌸

This whole thing is still new, slightly chaotic, and very much grown with love (and a little dirt under my fingernails), so every bit of support means more than you know.

The stand will be closed tomorrow while my flowers work on making more flowers. One of the things most important to me is only selling what I personally grow, so sometimes Mother Nature gets to be the boss of inventory. 🌱

The good news? There are LOTS more blooms growing and getting ready for their turn at the stand, along with some other fun goodies coming soon.

Thank you again for supporting this small backyard dream. I can’t wait to reopen soon. 💐

I know it’s raining but the table will still be set up and out there for you to stop by!

If the rain becomes too heavy I will close it down, but I’ll put it back up tomorrow.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s on the table today.
