IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Q: What is wrong with my lawn? Who did this to my lawn? Why does my neighbors lawn look better than mine? Why do I have more w**ds than usual.
A: Weeds love this weather, your lawn does not. Nobody did anything to your lawn.....including most homeowners. It is what is NOT being done.....WATER.
People can survive just a handful of days without water. Luckily, lawns are very resilient. This year 23 counties including Muskingum have been declared a state of emergency due to drought.
Lawns are like people. Some are ugly, some are not. Some have serious illness, some do not. There are many factors. Some cannot even be definitely determined.
Take a look at the pictures. This is the same neighborhood, same grass same soil, identical homes built at the same time. One person has done just a very minimal amount of watering. The other did not.
Contrary to what most people think, your lawn needs food now. The water will activate the fertilizer when it rains. The fertilizer will feed your lawn and help it recover from this stressful summer. The very worst thing you could do now is to stop feeding your lawn. Before anyone asks......NO, the proper fertilizer will absolutely NOT " burn and kill" your lawn.

HOMEOWNER TIPS: The one thing you can do is make sure that it gets a little bit of water. At least 30 minutes once per week. Mow as infrequently as possible. Wait till we have a nice big rain. Wait another 7-12 days. Then, only if really needs it, mow your lawn as high as your mower can possibly be set. Continue mowing as little as possible until your lawn begins to look like it should. If your lawn does not come around by Mid-November, it will probably need some aeration and overseeding in the spring.
