A lot of photos you see are styled for the camera. Because let’s be honest, nobody is living with a throw folded perfectly 24/7 in that effortless-but-somehow-aesthetic way.
But good interior design is not about making your house feel staged all the time. The goal is for it to feel beautiful and lived in. Like a space that can handle real life, messy mornings, people actually sitting on the sofa, and a blanket getting tossed wherever.
For example, this stool was photographed in three different spots around the bathroom. No, there are not secretly three stools living in there. But it does get used in everyday life, and that’s the point. Styling helps tell the story, but the space still has to work for the people living in it.
The best homes are the ones that look good and feel loved. That’s always the goal.
