The fulfilling satisfaction of fully renovating a home’s crawl space drives my passion. I often remind clients that the air quality in that space will be just as healthy as in their living areas, and once completed, it could even become a livable space! I enjoy those brief moments of reflection when I’ve completed but no time to relax. It’s time to move on to the next project!

Appalachian Radon Solutions undertook the removal of the existing insulation and v***r barrier prior to implementing a comprehensive crawl space encapsulation. This home exhibited elevated radon levels, posing potential health risks. To address this, we installed a radon mitigation system within the crawl space, positioned alongside the wall studs for discreet concealment once drywall is installed. The radon fan was strategically placed in the attic, with the exhaust pipe exiting through the roof, ensuring that the system remains unobtrusive and aesthetically pleasing from the exterior of the home. The clients and I are thoroughly satisfied with the ex*****on of this project. 💯

Here are a few before & after pictures of our most recent installation of a crawl space encapsulation and radon mitigation system. We addressed severe moisture issues, improving air quality and eliminating the moldy/mildew odor in the crawl space and living area of the home. Measures included sealing crawl space vents, installing a professional-grade dehumidifier, and an antimicrobial moisture barrier. Elevated radon levels were also resolved through a radon mitigation system. Another satisfied client that now enjoys safe and healthy air quality for their family, ensuring peace of mind. Our most recent installation of a radon mitigation system was an exciting and challenging endeavor, distinct from our usual projects. This particular home, architecturally crafted by a professional near the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, presented unique challenges. It featured multiple living areas constructed on separate slabs, equipped with radiant floor heating systems. A thermal imaging device captured the complexity of establishing a suction point within the house, as depicted in the attached photograph. Ultimately, both the clients and myself are delighted and thoroughly content with the completed job. ✅ 💯

This client’s home underwent a radon test, which revealed levels of 17.4 pCi/L. With two separate crawl spaces measuring a total of nearly 3000 sq ft, we made the decision to address the moisture concerns in both areas by implementing a comprehensive crawl space encapsulation. Additionally, we installed two successful radon mitigation systems in each crawl space. After completing the necessary improvements, the radon levels were effectively reduced to 2.6 pCi/L. We are delighted to have another satisfied client who can now enjoy a home with safe living conditions.

Before and After pictures of our most recent Crawl Space Encapsulation.
Due to this crawl space being used for storage and firewood, we installed our strongest v***r barrier. This durable, cross threaded v***r barrier has a 25 year warranty and is 30% thicker than other v***r barriers commonly used by local competitors.
Our professional grade dehumidifier has an automatic setting and drains safely away from the home. This means you never have to worry about emptying the reservoir and the daily hassles of other dehumidifiers.

We offer free estimates on crawl space encapsulations and would love to make your home a safe and healthy environment for you and your family.

Radon is a naturally-occurring gas produced by the radioactive decay of the element Radium. Radon itself is radioactive because it also decays to form the element Polonium, which is also radioactive. It is this element, which is produced by radon in the air and in people’s lungs, that can hurt lung tissue and cause lung cancer. Radon is more prevalent in mountainous regions due to the different rock types which have the potential to produce higher than average amounts of Radon gas.

Radon concentration is measured in picocuries per liter of air (pCi/L) The Enviornmental Protection Agency and the Surgeon General strongly recommend the installation of a radon mitigation system if the levels average above 4.0 pCi/L. Our advanced radon testing kits continuously monitor the radon levels during the 48 hour testing period, providing accurate and reliable test results.

This particular home averaged 14.8 pCi/L as you can see in our test interval reports. After the radon mitigation system was successfully installed, the levels were reduced to an average of 2.8 pCi/L as you can see in the last test report.

Call (828) 434-6520 or email [email protected] to schedule a radon test to ensure your home is safe for you and your family. If you mention this post as the reason you want to test your home, we will give you a 20% discount on your radon test!

This wet, dirty crawl space received the total package when it comes to Crawl Space Encapsulations. We removed the old, soaked insulation and existing v***r barrier which had been home for many pests over time. Appalachian Radon Solutions installed new insulation and provided an extensive mold remediation due to the mold/mildew on the floor joists. After the Crawl Space Encapsulation, we installed our High Quality, Professional Grade Dehumidifier creating a controlled environment which makes it inhospitable for mold/mildew and pests to thrive.
This was one of the most challenging crawl spaces and also rewarding, by improving the air quality in this home to a much safer and healthier level for the homeowners and their pets!

Crawl Space Encapsulations control pest problems and reduces future mold growth. This ensures healthy air quality and reduced heating costs for your home.

Our most recent Crawl Space Encapsulation began with the removal of all trash, debris, insulation, and the existing v***r barrier. The homeowner also requested the removal of jagged rocks and broken cinder blocks to create a smoother surface for any future plumbing or electrical issues.

We performed a detailed mold remediation, replaced all of the insulation and installed a professional grade dehumidifier. We used our strongest v***r barrier which is 30% thicker than what most competitors typically install. Additionally, this premium quality v***r barrier comes with a 25 year warranty.
