Thiết kế “as the owner” thường rất rõ ràng: tối ưu trưng bày, kiểm soát hành vi, dẫn dắt luồng di chuyển để tăng khả năng chuyển đổi. Không gian khi đó sắc nét, logic, có chủ đích. Nhưng nếu đi quá xa, nó dễ trở thành một hệ thống áp đặt — nơi khách hàng bị “điều hướng” hơn là trải nghiệm.
Thiết kế “as the customer” thì ngược lại: ưu tiên cảm giác thoải mái, riêng tư, dễ tiếp cận. Người dùng được thả lỏng, có thời gian, có khoảng lùi để suy nghĩ. Nhưng nếu chỉ dừng ở đây, showroom sẽ mất lực — thiếu cấu trúc để kể câu chuyện sản phẩm, và dễ trượt thành một không gian “đẹp nhưng không bán được”.
Vấn đề không phải là chọn một trong hai, mà là xếp chồng hai hệ logic lên cùng một không gian.
Một showroom tốt là khi logic vận hành thuộc về owner, nhưng cảm giác lại thuộc về customer. Người dùng không nhận ra mình đang được dẫn dắt, nhưng vẫn đi đúng hành trình mà không gian đã thiết kế sẵn.

Designing as the owner is inherently precise: it optimizes display, regulates behavior, and choreographs circulation to enhance conversion. The space becomes sharp, logical, and intentional. Yet, taken too far, it risks turning into a prescriptive system - where the customer is directed rather than invited to experience.
Designing as the customer operates in contrast: it privileges comfort, privacy, and ease of engagement. The user is given room to settle, to pause, to reflect. However, if left at that, the showroom begins to lose its agency - lacking the structure to articulate the product narrative, drifting into a space that is aesthetically pleasing yet commercially inert.
The issue, then, is not a matter of choosing between the two, but of superimposing both logics within a single spatial construct.
A well-resolved showroom is one where the operational logic belongs to the owner, while the experiential register belongs to the customer. The customer is never overtly aware of being guided, yet moves seamlessly along a path that has been deliberately composed.
