Tối ngày 11/6 tại Vienna (Áo), lễ trao giải Brick Award 2026 đã diễn ra với sự tham dự của 50 văn phòng và nhóm thiết kế nằm trong danh sách rút gọn, được tuyển chọn từ 849 công trình dự thi đến từ 21 quốc gia trên 5 châu lục. Danh sách năm nay quy tụ nhiều thực hành kiến trúc có ảnh hưởng trên thế giới như Kengo Kuma & Associates (Nhật Bản), Neri&Hu Design and Research Office (Trung Quốc), TEd’A Arquitectes, Peris+Toral Arquitectes (Tây Ban Nha) hay Atelier Ars (Mexico), những văn phòng xem vật liệu không chỉ là phương tiện xây dựng mà còn là cách lưu giữ ký ức, văn hóa và các giá trị bền vững của từng vùng lãnh thổ.
Trong bối cảnh đó, arb architects (Việt Nam) vinh dự được xướng tên ở hạng mục cao nhất Grand Prize với công trình Bảo tàng Đạo Mẫu. Được kiến tạo từ hơn 5 triệu viên ngói đất nung thu thập từ khoảng 500 ngôi nhà cũ trong bán kính 30km quanh công trình, dự án tiếp cận vật liệu như một kho lưu trữ sống của ký ức cộng đồng, nơi kiến trúc, tín ngưỡng và đời sống văn hóa tiếp tục được gìn giữ và tái tạo trong hiện tại.
Trong khuôn khổ sự kiện, kiến trúc sư Nguyễn Hà, nhà sáng lập arb architects và đồng sáng lập MM Research Lab, cũng được mời là một trong bốn diễn giả chính của hội thảo quốc tế Brick Award Symposium tại MAK - Bảo tàng Mỹ thuật Ứng dụng Vienna với chủ đề Cities of the Future: Transforming for a Resilient, Sustainable and Inclusive Tomorrow. Tại đây, chị đã giới thiệu những dự án nghiên cứu và thực hành mới nhất của arb architects và MM Research Lab, từ nghiên cứu bảo tồn hệ thống lò gạch Măng Thít ở Đồng bằng sông Cửu Long đến các thử nghiệm về vật liệu sinh thái từ đất, như một phần của nỗ lực kết nối nghiên cứu, chế tác và thực hành trong kiến trúc đương đại.

On June 11, 2026, the Brick Award 2026 ceremony took place in Vienna, Austria, bringing together 50 shortlisted architectural practices and design teams selected from 849 entries across 21 countries and five continents. This year’s shortlist featured internationally acclaimed practices such as Kengo Kuma & Associates (Japan), Neri&Hu Design and Research Office (China), TEd’A Arquitectes and Peris+Toral Arquitectes (Spain), and Atelier Ars (Mexico). Despite their diverse contexts, these practices share a common interest in treating materials not merely as construction solutions, but as carriers of memory, culture, and sustainable values rooted in their territories.
In this context, arb architects (Vietnam) was honored with the highest distinction, the Grand Prize, for the Đạo Mẫu Museum & Temple. Constructed from more than five million reclaimed clay roof tiles collected from approximately 500 old houses within a 30-kilometer radius of the site, the project approaches material as a living archive of collective memory, where architecture, belief, and cultural life continue to be preserved and renewed in the present.
As part of the event, architect Nguyễn Hà, founder of arb architects and co-founder of MM Research Lab, was invited as one of four keynote speakers at the Brick Award Symposium held at MAK - the Museum of Applied Arts Vienna under the theme Cities of the Future: Transforming for a Resilient, Sustainable and Inclusive Tomorrow. During the symposium, she presented the latest research and practice-based projects developed by arb architects and MM Research Lab, ranging from the conservation research of the Măng Thít brick kiln landscape in the Mekong Delta to experiments with earth-based ecological materials, as part of an ongoing effort to connect research, making, and architectural practice.....
