This book focuses on the architectural essence of Stani structures, exploring their construction techniques and their role in pastorate activities and transhumance in the region’s mountains. While primarily architectural, the book also touches on the cultural aspects of life in the mountains. It weaves together a narrative where architecture and culture intersect, revealing the rich heritage of Kosovo’s mountain communities. I hope you find this book informative and inspiring.

Projekti ynë për Konkursin e Koncept Dizajnit të çerdhes në lagjen Kolovicë

Programi i garës është konvertuar në tri objekte të lidhura me hapësirën për shumë qellime, për të ofruar një mjedis të përshtatshëm dhe stimulues për zhvillimin e fëmijëve. Ndërtesat janë vendosur me kujdes duke iu përshtatur mjedisit arkitektonik, topografisë së terrenit dhe orientimit të diellit, duke siguruar që çdo njësi të përfitojë nga drita natyrale dhe ajri i pastër. Funksionet e çdo ndërtese janë organizuar me qellim për të përmbushur nevojat e grupmoshave të fëmijëve dhe stafit. Hyrjet e veçanta janë projektuar për të ndarë qasjen në objekt për fëmijët dhe prindërit nga ato të personelit, duke i dhënë përparësi sigurisë dhe organizimit të duhur të përdorimit të hapësirave.

Hapësira për shumë qëllime, e lidhur me funksionet e tri njësive,është një ambient fleksibil që mund të përdoret për shumë aktivitete kreative që nxisin bashkëpunimin dhe zhvillimin motorik të fëmijëve. Gjithashtu, hapësira ofron mundësi uljeje të mjaftueshme për organizimin e aktiviteteve teatrale të organizuara nga vetë fëmijët.

Në qendër të dizajnit është lidhja e drejtpërdrejtë me hapësirën e lojës në natyrë, duke ofruar një gamë të gjerë aktivitetesh dhe mundësish për zhvillimin e shëndetshëm dhe argëtues të fëmijëve. Përveç kësaj, krijimi i një kopshti të vogël perimesh integron me sukses edukimin e të ushqyerit të shëndetshëm dhe lidhjen me natyrën në mjedisin arsimor.

Our project for the Concept Design Competition of the kindergarten in the Kolovicë neighborhood.

The competition’s program is strategically divided among three facilities, meticulously crafted to cultivate an enriching environment for children’s growth and development. Each building is thoughtfully positioned to harmonize with the architectural landscape, leveraging topography and solar orientation to maximize natural light and fresh air. Tailored to the specific needs of different age groups, the functions within each building are meticulously organized to optimize both learning and safety for children and staff alike. Separate entrances ensure efficient space utilization, prioritizing safety while delineating access for children and parents from staff areas.

Central to the design is a versatile multi-purpose space seamlessly integrated with all three units. This dynamic environment fosters creativity and collaboration through various activities, promoting children’s motor skills and social development. Ample seating accommodates theatrical endeavors led by the children themselves, encouraging self-expression and teamwork.

Besides the growing number of households and cars contributing to air pollution, there is also the lack of green spaces in Prishtina as explained by the Environmental Architect (Bardha Meta) in the book ‘Era Dimën’ or ‘Smell of Winter’. “Out of 22 neighborhoods, Pristina has only six common green spaces or parks. The Peyton and Lakrishte residential neighborhoods closest to the city center, do not have any common green area to ‘get away from the city noise and air pollution.”
The introduction of green spaces in the existing overcrowded part of the capital is very promising, and we saw a great impact on other cities in the world. But the question is why we don’t consider air pollution when building new structures. It is well known that 39% of energy and process-related carbon dioxide emissions are attributed to the construction sector. Construction site activities, transportation, and manufacturing of building materials account for most of this high percentage. Thus, all the green facades pasted onto the city afterward will not be able to compensate for the damage caused during the construction process.
The new neighborhoods in the ever-expanding Prishtina, are being built in the same way as before. It’s like we are running in a circle by building fast, dealing with the consequences later, and then trying to make it green and sustainable. During the 90s there was this idea that the people of Kosova should not be dealing with global warming and that all our focus should be on national liberation. And now after the country is liberated, there is  another idea that we are small and poor and don’t have the commodity to deal with global issues, but in every other aspect, we are trying to get recognition globally. It must be clear that we are part of the common global ecosystem, and we must act as such, no matter how small we are or what the country is going through.

She creates buildings by using simple materials and dynamic forms. Ideja e përbashkët e arkitektit dhe klientit ishte krijimi i një muzeu të vogël që shpreh poezinë në mes të pyllit dhe të shtazëve. Ndërtesa, nga vëllimi dhe materialet është frymëzuar nga arkitektura e tharëseve të duhanit, të cilat janë pjesë e peizazhit rural të Francës jugperëndimore
The common idea of the architect and the client was to create a small museum that expresses the poetry of the forest and the bird. The building, by its volumes and its materials is inspired by the architecture of to***co dryers, which are part of the rural landscape of south-west France.

Boshllëku për ne është heshtja që duam të arrijmë gjithmonë në projektet tona. The void-ness for us is the silence we always want to achieve in our projects. In a way, it is easy for us because when we’re very small in Mexican culture, we’re taught that the Mayans invented the zero, and the zero in a way is the void. It is that concept which is very difficult to understand, but now, for us, it is the place where we can create.

Ndërtimi i tokës së re në ujë mund të jetë biznes i mirë, por është brutal për ekosistemin, rikuperimi i tokës është një nga tre shkaqet kryesore të dëmtimit të Gjirit Persik. Brenda një ose dy brezave kemi humbur shumicën e ekosistemeve përgjatë bregdetit. Por, çfarë mund të bëjmë? Nuk mund të heqim dorë nga gjithçka dhe të dalim të jetojmë në pyll, por ne duhet të kuptojmë se çështja më e madhe nuk është vetëm të jemi më të kujdesshëm ose më të zgjuar për mënyrën se si i përdorim burimet individuale.Kjo ka të bëjë me mënyrën se si i përdorim të gjitha ato burime. Bëhet fjalë për gjetjen e një mënyre për të ndërtuar një jetë për 7 miliardë njerëz në një themel më të fortë se rëra.
Building new land in water may be good business, but it is brutal on the ecosystem, land reclamation is on of the top three causses of damage to the Persian Gulf. Within one or two generations we have lost most of the ecosystems along the coast. So, what we can me done? The author is not suggesting giving up everything and go out live in the woods, but we need to understand that the bigger issue isn’t just being more careful or smarter about how we use individual resources. Its about how we use all those resources. Its about figuring out a way to build a life for 7 billion people on a foundation sturdier than sand
