“Why does my kitchen still annoy me after spending thousands on it?”

It’s one of the most common frustrations we hear from homeowners who renovated based on inspiration photos instead of how they actually live.

In this clip, Sarah talks about something that often gets missed in renovations... designing for your future routines, not just your current taste.

Because trends change quickly, but the things that frustrate people years later are usually functional.

Not enough storage once the kids get older.
Worktops that constantly look messy.
A layout that looked great visually but doesn’t flow properly when two people are cooking.
Materials that felt exciting at the time but now feel dated.

The most successful renovations tend to have something in common; they make everyday life feel easier.

There’s a reason more people are looking at the KBB industry differently.

In this video, Toby talks about why the traditional showroom model is no longer the only route into kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, and why in-home design is becoming a much more attractive option for both clients and designers.

He shares what makes a strong Raison Home franchisee, from experienced industry professionals looking for more independence, to people coming from completely different careers who want to build something for themselves.

One thing that comes through clearly is that this isn’t about being left to figure it out alone.

From initial onboarding and CAD training, through to lead generation, networking, supplier visits and ongoing support from both the UK team and wider international network, the focus is on helping franchisees build a sustainable business properly from day one.

If you’ve ever thought about building your own business in the home design industry, this is well worth a watch.

We’re pleased to welcome a new face to the Raison Home UK network! 🎉

has recently joined us as a Home Designer, covering Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Surrey and Greater London.

Since getting started, Brian has hit the ground running. He’s been building his pipeline, meeting clients and developing tailored kitchen designs that reflect a more considered, personal approach to the process.

Alongside this, he’s been establishing local partnerships and becoming part of the business community across his area, and is already building fantastic relationships through local networking groups.

It’s a great example of how our designers build their businesses locally, while delivering the same level of design thinking and attention to detail that defines Raison Home.

Welcome to the network, Brian!

Designing a bedroom might seem straightforward. Until you actually start...

Where should storage go?
How much do you really need?
Will it still feel calm once everything is fitted in?
And how do you make it all work without the room feeling smaller?

This is where working with a Home Designer makes a real difference.

It’s not just choosing wardrobes or finishes. It’s about understanding how the space needs to function for you, and then shaping everything around that.

A good designer will look at the room as a whole. How you move through it. Where natural light falls. What needs to be easily accessible, and what can be tucked away. They’ll design storage that works around your habits, not against them.

They’ll also help you avoid the common mistakes. Overfilling the room. Wasting awkward spaces. Choosing pieces that look good individually but don’t work together.

And importantly, they’ll bring everything together into a cohesive design that feels carefully considered - whilst managing the full project for you!

Could you do it yourself? Of course.

But the difference is in how the space feels when it’s finished. Effortless, calm, and designed around you.

What’s actually changing in kitchen design right now?

We asked four of our Home Designers to share the biggest shifts they’ve seen over the past year and there’s a clear theme emerging.

Clients are moving away from safe, uniform spaces and towards kitchens with more depth, texture and personality. Worktops are becoming bolder, wood tones are making a comeback and subtle details like ridged finishes and curved edges are softening the overall look.

At the same time, practicality is becoming even more important. Hidden storage like appliance garages, smarter waste solutions and better use of open-plan layouts are all becoming part of the conversation.

But perhaps the biggest shift is that people are no longer thinking about the kitchen in isolation. They are thinking about how the whole space works together, how it feels to live in and how it connects to the rest of the home.

And that’s why our design process will always start in the client’s home.

Toby, our Country Manager, spent time at kbb Birmingham earlier this month talking about what he’s seeing shift across the market.

From suppliers becoming more open to new ways of working, to a clear move away from safe, neutral spaces towards more personality, detail and colour, there’s a real sense that the industry is evolving.

Some of the most interesting projects we see don’t come from doing things the way they’ve always been done. They come from new perspectives, different backgrounds, and designers who are focused on creating real value for their clients.

It is something we see across our network every day.

This week we headed to the NEC for the kbb Birmingham show, one of the biggest events in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom industry calendar.

On Sunday, Raison Home Glasgow and Raison Home - Manchester spent the day exploring the latest innovations and catching up with suppliers. Then on Monday, Raison Home - Tess Stobie, Raison Home Edinburgh - Kitchens, Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Raison Home - Fiona Sneddon, Raison Home- Hannah Kershaw, Raison Home Brian Seymour and Toby, our Country Manager, joined the show floor, alongside our marketing partners Rewind Creative who were there capturing content from across the event.

Beyond the scale of the show itself, what really stood out were the conversations with brands pushing design and innovation forward. Some highlights for the team included:
➡️ Acquabella Bath and their beautifully sculptural bath designs
➡️ Hendel & Hendel showcasing thoughtful hardware details
➡️ Häfele UK Ltd demonstrating beautiful lighting and hardware
➡️ Aqualisa and their smart shower innovations
➡️ Novy Global continuing to lead the way with their undercover hob
➡️ SONAS Bathrooms for contemporary bathroom design
➡️ Ca' Pietra for exceptional stone and tile inspiration

Events like KBB are an important part of how our designers stay ahead of trends, materials and innovations, ensuring the ideas we bring into our clients’ homes are always evolving.

A great couple of days with the team, and plenty of inspiration to carry into the projects ahead.

When most people think about storage, they think “more cupboards”.

But great design is rarely about more; it's about being smarter.

Here are a few storage considerations our Home Designers regularly discuss with clients that often get overlooked:

1. Where do your appliances live when they’re not in use?
Kettles, toasters, coffee machines and air fryers can quickly dominate worktops. Appliance garages, pocket doors or a dedicated breakfast cupboard keep everything accessible but hidden when not in use.

2. The depth of your drawers matters more than you think.
Deep pan drawers reduce bending and make heavy cookware easier to access. Internal drawer dividers prevent that chaotic “everything piled on top of each other” moment. Storage should support the way you cook, not fight against it.

3. Corner storage is often wasted space.
Blind corners can swallow valuable storage. Pull-out corner systems or diagonal corner drawers ensure every inch is usable rather than forgotten.

4. Vertical space is prime real estate.
Floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, tall larders and stacked wall units maximise capacity without increasing footprint. Especially in smaller kitchens, height is your best friend.

5. Bin and recycling planning.
Integrated waste systems near the prep zone make everyday cooking more efficient. It is a small detail that makes a big functional difference.

6. Lighting inside storage.
Internal lighting in larders or wardrobes is not just a luxury. It improves visibility, reduces clutter and elevates the entire experience of using the space.

7. Think beyond the kitchen.
Bedroom wardrobes benefit from double hanging rails, pull-down rails for higher sections, and hidden laundry drawers. In bathrooms, recessed shelving and mirrored cabinets can dramatically increase storage without crowding the room.

The real question we ask clients is not “How much storage do you need?”. It's “What are you storing, and how do you use it?”

The part of a renovation most people underestimate? Installation.

Design is only one piece of the puzzle. What truly shapes a client’s experience is what happens once the plans are signed off.

Our Home Designers are on hand throughout installation - coordinating trades, managing schedules, checking details, taking deliveries and being the single point of contact when questions arise. That presence makes a huge difference.

When someone is overseeing the finer details, it means cabinetry is checked as it arrives. Worktops are templated at the right moment. Appliances are in the right place at the right time. Small issues are solved before they become stressful problems.

For our clients, it means fewer phone calls, fewer unknowns and far less disruption to daily life.

For us, it is about protecting the design integrity and ensuring the finished space looks and functions exactly as intended.

Fiona Sneddon, one of our Home Designers based in Stirling, recently worked with Leeanne Kerr Hairdressing to completely redesign their growing salon.

The brief? More seating, better flow, and a stylish space that would still feel calm and inviting on even the busiest days.

From the introduction of a dedicated colour bar with six new seats, to clever wall-mounted magazine racks and down-lit product display shelving, every detail was considered to make the most of the layout, without compromising at all on style.
