From the heart of the owner of UCP,
5 years ago, after working for different security companies and being retrenched twice, I decided enough was enough — I was going to start my own patrolling and response company. Seeing the huge gap in the market, UCP Umjindi Community Patrols was born. I registered as a Pty/ltd and then at PSIRA as a Security Service provider.
From my experience during COVID, I saw how many people were struggling financially, so I decided to keep my prices reasonable and affordable. It started off slow, but little by little UCP began to grow.
Every single night we work to make sure our clients, their families, and their properties are safe. We work closely with all role players in safety and security — from other security companies, SAPS, ambulance services, fire brigade, traffic officials, and many more.
Over the years, many arrests have been made, stolen property recovered, and lives saved. This is what I live for every day I go on duty.
I still patrol every single night myself. Sometimes I feel discouraged and tired, but then I find the strength again to keep going and growing this company. There have been many ups and downs that made me want to close the doors numerous times, but then I see the gratitude in my clients’ faces and messages — and that is what keeps me going every night.
Some clients join, pay for a few months, and then suddenly stop paying while making excuses that we don’t patrol — even though we patrol right next to them and opposite them every night. Some clients simply stop paying, stop answering calls or WhatsApp messages. How difficult is it to just say: “Please cancel our services, we are struggling financially,” or “We no longer need the service”?
Meanwhile, for months I still drive out every night, using fuel and time, making sure those clients can sleep peacefully with a rested heart.
I have helped people in so many ways, yet still get kicked down time and time again — but that’s okay. That is what God expects from me. I was raised to help others without asking for anything in return. My late Dad always taught us:“Do unto others what you want done unto yourself.”
Then there are the gossipers in town who spread rumours that we work with criminals and badmouth us around every corner. Think this is just jealousy and will always happen because they strive on Gossip. To all those people, I want to say thank you — because it is because of you that I will succeed. You make me want to become even better at what I do.
I answer only to One above, and that is God.
I do my work with pride and always try to help people where I can.
To all my loyal clients — wow, thank you for trusting me with your lives and safety. I will keep building this legacy for many years to come.
To every single person who supports UCP, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
May you all be blessed abundantly🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
