Designed for a sloping site in Bergendal, this home is shaped by the land rather than imposed on it.

The volumes step with the terrain, creating a series of connected spaces that open onto generous terraces and frame views into the landscape. Softer, more organic forms contrast the structure and strengthen the connection between inside and outside.

A key driver was preserving the natural character of the site — retaining mature trees, existing planting, and exposed rock formations to anchor the home in its setting.

Architecture here becomes a mediator between terrain and living, working with the slope, not against it.

Additions + Alterations, Camps Bay.

The project reworks an existing structure through a series of layered interventions — extending floor plates, introducing deep horizontal overhangs, and recalibrating the façade to strengthen orientation, views, and environmental performance.

A restrained material palette of plaster, timber, and glass articulates the composition. Vertical timber screens provide solar control and rhythm, while continuous, frameless balustrades dissolve the boundary between inside and out.

The result is not a new building, but a restructured one — where spatial hierarchy, circulation, and envelope are reconsidered to align with contemporary patterns of living along the Atlantic seaboard.

NEXO HOUSE | Designing with Confidence

Our new in-house 3D printer has become one of the most valuable tools in our design process.

By producing physical models throughout the project, we’re able to test massing, refine proportions, resolve levels and understand how a building truly sits in its context — long before construction begins. Seeing the design in three dimensions, in real scale, reveals things that drawings and renders alone can’t.

The result?
More considered decisions.
More refined architecture.
Fewer surprises on site.

For our clients, it creates real confidence. Instead of trying to interpret plans, you can hold the project in your hands and clearly understand what the end result will look and feel like. It bridges the gap between concept and reality.

For developers and sales teams, it becomes a powerful presentation and marketing tool — helping buyers immediately connect with the vision.

This is a service we now offer in-house: precision 3D printed architectural models that strengthen the design process and bring clarity to every stage of a project.

If you’d like a model built for your project, let’s talk.

Contemporary Estate Living | Stellenbosch

Designed for a young professional couple, this home reinterprets the estate’s aesthetic rules through a more contemporary lens — clean lines, refined materials and balanced proportions.

Generous living and entertaining spaces flow seamlessly from interior to exterior, creating a home that feels open, connected and effortless. Large openings frame the landscape, terraces extend social areas outward, and every space is positioned to maximise light and garden views.

A considered balance between estate character and modern expression — calm, confident and inviting.

Additions & Alterations | Growing with the Family

A home reimagined for friends whose family is growing up — and needing space to grow into.

We didn’t just add square metres. We reshaped how the house lives. Social spaces were repositioned to become the heart of the home, light was pulled deeper into the plan, and circulation was simplified to feel natural and generous.

The new work was designed to feel seamless — not like additions, but like the house was always meant to be this way. A cleaner, more contemporary language brings cohesion while keeping the warmth of the original home.

Most importantly, the interiors now open meaningfully to the garden — blurring inside and out, and making everyday living feel connected, open and inviting.

Architecture that evolves with the family it holds.

A simple composition of volumes stepping with the slope, opening up to the views and the light. Large terraces and deep overhangs create easy indoor–outdoor living, while brick and concrete ground the house against the coastal climate.

Designed as a flexible family home — generous spaces, strong structure, and room to adapt over time.

Concept design in progress — exploring massing for an additions & alterations project in Camps Bay.

Working between what exists and what could be. Testing how new volumes sit lightly on the original structure, how the composition steps with the site, and how the architecture opens itself toward the ocean and back to Table Mountain.

At this stage it’s about balance — respecting the existing fabric while introducing clarity, light and stronger spatial connections. Carefully stacking and shifting form to frame views, create terraces, and respond to one of the most dramatic landscapes in the country.

From existing to intervention to proposal — refining the idea before moving into detailed resolution.
