I organized two “junk”/ bottom kitchen drawers this morning. I first did a big clean out then categorized and moved things out that didn’t belong in there such as building supplies and camping equipment. It was so satisfying seeing how neat and decluttered it was once everything was sorted! And how much extra space there was! We only purchased 3 containers as the client didn’t want to add to ‘The Plastic Pandemic’ (rightly so!) and she didn’t want labels either so my method was slightly tweaked but all in all I think it turned out well 💜

Saturday is for STATIONARY sorting 🧚🏻‍♀️ With 3 school going children one accumulates A LOT of stationary! It often gets all muddled and strewn around the house, my pet peeve! If not organized we can never find things we need (the constant scissor dilemma 🤷🏼‍♀️) or know how much we have of what, so we run out of things and don’t have them when we actually need them but we do find ten half used glue sticks because every time we couldn’t find one previously we bought a new! 💫 TOP DRAWER: Mommy’s personal stationary, not for kids plus backstock because I like to buy bulk and SAVE 😉 LOWER DRAWERS: Kids stuff. I have chosen not to label as it’s a strange angle to read in the drawer plus I have no place to stick it and everything is very visibly clear as to what it is! I checked the koki’s still work and threw away the dead ones and sharpened all the pencils. Hopefully these things stay SORTED for a while! The idea is for the kids to be able to take the boxes out the drawers to the drawing/ homework table, use the stuff and put it back… let’s see…

Lego Sorted ✅ Gosh what a task 😅 I kept the boys’ special sets on display as “models” (not for playing) on their shelves in their room as those are the really big builds that they’re proud of and I couldn’t imagine breaking up! The other complete builds were put in a box for playing with. I then colour sorted the loose or half broken sets. I created a few extra categories other than colours to help make it easier for the kids to find things when they play. Let’s hope this is finally a method of keeping the Lego organized that we can ALL stick to! Summer has her own Lego “Friends” box but doesn’t really have enough to do a big sort… yet 🤦🏼‍♀️

Kids LEGO ~ I have never quite found a Lego sorting method that has stuck in my house. I’ll spend hours sorting them into 80 different sets only for them to be mixed up again in a week. I’ve tried separating them by piece sizes which the kids never stuck to and would just always chuck any piece back in any box. So I’m going back to basics with colour sorting, let’s see how it goes…
