With World Ocean Day observed this week, we're reflecting on the ways Century City and Intaka Island contribute to protecting nearby marine ecosystems.

Rainfall and stormwater can carry litter and pollutants through the Century City canal system into the Diep River, to Milnerton Lagoon and ultimately into the Atlantic Ocean.

Through ongoing clean-up efforts, the Century City Property Owners' Association (CCPOA) teams work tirelessly to stop pollution at the source, helping to protect biodiversity, improve water quality and support the health of one of Cape Town's most important urban catchments.

This proactive approach helps prevent the build-up of microplastics, protect aquatic habitats and improve the ecological health of downstream estuarine and marine environments.

‘The Burning Man’ by esteemed local artist Anton Smit can be found in the Bridgewater precinct near the entrance to Gusto Urban Italian.

This large-scale sculpture is part of the Century City Art Trail which all are welcome to enjoy free of charge.
