I find portrait painting the most challenging and draining of all fine art disciplines. Today I went to a workshop and painted this young lady . . . I'm really tired now . . . so off to a well deserved bath!

"the art trade brings with it some prejudices ... particularly ideas that painting is a gift - well yes, a gift, but not as they make it appear; one must reach out and take it (and that taking is difficult), not wait until it manifests itself of its own accord . . . one learns by doing. One becomes a painter by painting - Van Gogh . . . OH NOW TO MAKE THE TIME TO PAINT!

BITS 'n BOBS box for odd buttons, needle, thread, cotton for emergencies. Kind of like the container holding a multitude of helpful gadgets for last minute emergencies . . . best is, it stands in your lounge and no-one knows what it holds. Some MEMORY pics included in design
