Wilfred Lotter. Wilfred is a retired wood machinist and he is desperate to pass on his skills to youngsters coming into the industry. He has been trying in vain to find a training institute who will give him an opportunity to pass on his skills. If any of you reading the column have any bright ideas please contact Wilfred on 078 404 8850 or e-mail me and I will pass on any messages.

Hi Don,
I have returned from Angola where I spent 14 years as Structural Technician, mainly as Concrete and structural steel inspector. I am now 68 years young and doing Handy Man work for elderly and people who don't trust contractors or their workers as many companies leave their workers to carry on with the job and they disappear to the next job.
I work on my own....might take a bit longer but gets done 100%
I do the following:
Drafting of concrete works and detailing as well as site supervision.
Project management for small jobs.
Underpinning of house foundations.
Sub - soil drainage around houses (on slopes in Hout Bay.)
Woodwork repairs.
Painting (small jobs)
Please put me on your database.
Regards,
Shaun Patrick Quinlivan

This is an extension to the Handy Mac column in the Independent Home section of the Saturday Weekend Argus. The main object of this page is to list the names of retired or semi-retired persons looking for work in the industry or willing to pass on their skills to others, within the borders of South Africa. I reserve the right to remove any post of people who are not vetted by myself or who do not fit into the above category. Also feel free to post building related questions or tips to help others with problems.
