The Re-Entrance of Fulani Terrorists in BiafraLand: The Killings Have Started
The recent wave of violence and killings in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State has once again raised serious concerns about the security of communities across the South-East. Reports of attacks, loss of lives, destruction of homes, and growing fear among residents have renewed discussions about the persistent threat posed by armed criminal elements operating within forests and rural communities.
For many people across BiafraLand, the events unfolding in Ezeagu are a painful reminder of earlier attacks that devastated communities in parts of Enugu State, including the infamous Nimbo massacre of 2016, where numerous villagers were killed after armed herdsmen invaded farming communities.
Today, the signs of insecurity are once again becoming difficult to ignore. Rural communities are increasingly reporting fear among farmers, travellers, and villagers who depend on their farmlands and forests for survival. Various reports have alleged the existence of armed groups operating from forested areas around Ezeagu and other locations, creating anxiety among local populations.
The tragedy in Ezeagu should therefore serve as a wake-up call for every community in the South-East. Regardless of political opinions or ideological differences, the primary responsibility of every society is the protection of life and property. Communities that fail to take security seriously often become vulnerable to criminal infiltration and violent attacks.
This is not a time for complacency. It is a time for vigilance.
Traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organizations, town unions, religious institutions, and local vigilante groups must work together in lawful cooperation with security agencies to ensure that suspicious movements are promptly reported and investigated. Communities should strengthen neighbourhood watch structures, improve intelligence gathering, and encourage residents to remain alert to unusual activities around forests, farmlands, and border communities.
Farmers should avoid isolated locations without adequate security awareness. Villagers should maintain communication networks that can quickly alert neighbouring communities whenever danger is detected. Information sharing has become one of the most effective tools in preventing attacks before they occur.
The people of BiafraLand must also recognize that security is everybody's responsibility. Waiting until violence reaches one's own village before taking action may prove costly. The lessons from previous attacks across different communities show that early warning systems, community cooperation, and vigilance often save lives.
The events in Ezeagu have once again demonstrated that peace cannot be taken for granted. The protection of our communities requires unity, awareness, preparedness, and lawful community-based security consciousness.
As the memories of those who have lost their lives remain fresh, the message to every village, town, and community across BiafraLand is clear:
Remain vigilant.
Remain security conscious.
Protect your communities.
Protect your farmlands.
Protect your future.
For a people who desire peace, vigilance is not fear, it is wisdom. The article focuses on vigilance and community security awareness while acknowledging the reported violence and concerns arising from the recent events in Ezeagu.
