I had a bakkie four years ago and business was booming. Then an Arrow bus crashed into me and wrote off my bakkie. I thought it is a door closing and saw it as a sign from God. Then another door opened in the form of a job taking care of a person. Boy was I wrong! It lead me on such a dark road. I realised finally that door was not opened by God. I learnt that the devil also opens rosy doors. I need to check first if the door was opened by God. God reopened my handyman business door again and we are on our 2nd job for the year. Praise God. I was fired in November 2020 from the caretaking job. I almost lost everything in this dark period. I still stand a chance to lose my car but firmly believe God will provide. By the tenth of May I need to pay R10500 to bring my car up to date. So far I only have R3000. Please pray with me that God will provide. All I read is Psalm 23 and in this favorate piece is that God promises he will restore my soul. Praise God. Please pray with me that God will provide. I promise that I will give regular feedback as God steps in and I learnt I am a son of God and I am on a wonderful discovery journey what this identity holds for me. Thank you for your prayers. DAILY CHIME

JUST FOR TODAY... I can think of nothing to write/say. And this makes me think about how sometimes it's okay for things to simply be just the way they are.

Isn't it strange how every time we move into a new home, a new job, a new relationship; the first thing that goes through our minds is what we would change, how we could improve things or do them differently? Why is it so difficult for us to simply be okay with everything as it is? To be okay with just being okay? We always want to change, improve, move, divert... Not that I'm saying it's not a good thing to improve or change. But what we end up doing is getting into the navigators seat of the bus and trying to give the driver directions. In life there is only one bus driver and I promise you He/She knows exactly where He/She is going. Sometimes it's okay to simply sit at the back and enjoy the view.

It's not an easy thing to do, I know from my own experience and that of those around me. In fact I think this is something that everyone struggles with; being the control freaks that we all are deep down. But Surrender truly is the key to Faith and very little is possible without Faith.

So... Just for Today... I will surrender to things as they are. I will accept that my home, job, relationship, life is not perfect and more than likely never will be exactly as I want it to be. I am not driving the bus, I'm not even the navigator.

Today I will sit at the back of the bus and simply enjoy the view.

DAILY CHIME

JUST FOR TODAY... I will do some first-class w**ding in the garden of my life.

We all have those people in our lives that just seem to suck all the energy out of us. I've heard them referred to as psychic vampires - what an apt expression. It's as though spending time with them is like just bleeding out all the energy and optimism you have. Then there are those that are simply so unreliable and unpredictable. They make plans, then cancel - or just don't arrive. They never seem to have time because they're so wrapped up in their own... whatever. There's the know-it-alls, the mini-tyrants... There are others, all have the same effect, they sap our energy and leave us feeling down, negative, disappointed.

The question we really need to ask ourselves is this: are these people going to bloom in our gardens into plants we are eager to nurture. Or are they just w**ds that will strangle the beautiful plants and take over everything else; serving no purpose but to make or gardens dull.

Just for today I will have the confidence and self-esteem to walk away from these relationships. To have the faith in myself to ask: does this relationship really serve me on a spiritual level. If it doesn't, then I will think really hard about walking away.

Today I will w**d my garden and allow space for more precious and delicious plants to grow.

DAILY CHIME

JUST FOR TODAY... I will give the windows of my eyes a good cleaning.

Some people seem to wear rose-tinted glasses. Others seem to wear miserably black ones. Most of us though, just seem to collect a lot of dust on our eye-windows; dust that makes us see so much of the negativity that happens around us.

But, for today we can choose to give those windows a good cleaning and look for the positive in everything. I'm not saying we should be unrealistic or naive about life. I'm saying that we can choose how we interpret what goes on around us.

Our optimism about life is just as infectious as our pessimism. Do I want to be an infection that brings others down with my negativity and complaints? Or do i want to be an infection that lifts people up and makes them smile? The beautiful thing is that I can choose which one I prefer to be.

Just for today i will clean the dust from my eye-windows, see the positive in life, and infect others with my optimism

DAILY CHIME

We used to cement our teeth into lovely home baked bread with home made butter. This is a memory of growing up on a farm, where we had to learn to do everything ourselves. From trying to milk the cows to driving the beach buggy from a very early age. I remember the wonderful hours we spent with my dad when he did paint or cement work. We were so eager to join in the fun,leaving our mum frustrated with dirty painted clothing.I cement my teeth today into the memory of my mum and dad and their love for us. Solid unconditional love smeared like home made butter on home made bread. At the beginning of a new month I want to celebrate the cemented love our parents gave us. I want to celebrate that they did everything possible to give us the best care and love. They cemented with loving guidance our early developmental stages and lovingly guided us through school and varsity years.Their belief in a Higher Power cemented us believing in a loving and caring Higher Power who would take us on a wonderful spiritual journey-One that will only end once we have left the earth and left us in a soft and gentle way wondering: "Trying to define ourselves is like trying to bite our own teeth" This is an ongoing process, remembering the solid cemented love of our dear parents.Thank you mum and dad for being such wonderful parents, may we be of service to others as you were always of service to others. DAILY CHIME

JUST FOR TODAY... I will accept the rain that's pouring down onto my construction site, holding up all the progress and change I am so eager to get done.

Gosh, but we do like to be in control.

You know those times when you're consciously making changes in your life; you're improving yourself. You've decided on better communication in your relationship; to be a calmer parent; to not be the kind of manager that screams at his/her employees. Perhaps it's one of those more practical life changes you're making: you're moving house; changing cars; maybe you're even getting divorced.

Then, suddenly out of nowhere (it seems) life just throws obstacles at you that drag the process down to a snails-pace; even grinding it to a complete halt. Your partner does something really outlandish; your child writes all over the walls (or worse), and that one employee who you struggle the most to be patient with makes a mistake that nearly costs you your job. Or, the sale of your house suddenly doesn't go through, your dream car turns out to be a dud and your spouse simply refuses to sign the papers. AAARRGGHHHH!!! Right?

Personally, I have been brought to my knees by anxiety and worry so often, that I've had little choice but to accept that there is some Higher Power, something bigger than me, that is running the show, that there is something more than life just happening to me. I'm not a victim - I'm a willing participant. I'm not necessarily saying everything happens for a reason specifically. I'm saying that the much gnashing of teeth we humans love to do when things don't go our way SERVES NO PURPOSE. Honestly, it doesn't. I can choose to react differently.

So, Just for Today I will accept that whatever construction site I am busy trying to build in my life may take a little longer than I anticipated. Perhaps it may not even happen at all. Who knows? Regardless, accepting the things over which I am powerless is the key to serenity, and serenity is the key to faith. And faith... well that makes everything easier.
