A beautiful site visit at Avenue des Huguenots.
Construction is in full swing, and the sweeping concrete curvature is even more beautiful to see in person. Rather than imposing itself on the hillside, these fluid lines feel like they are working with the topography of the slopes, framing the views of the Atlantic Seaboard. Bold simplicity that feels grounded, protective, and connected to its environment.

Bringing a vision of this scale to life requires a shared design language. We are excited to be working alongside Mobius and we can’t wait to see how these spaces evolve. Stay close.

Featured in Leading Architecture + Design: A first look at the new Weylandts flagship showroom planned for the KZN coast.
This multi-level pavilion, designed in collaboration with StudioLandt is shaped by a deep sensitivity to its environmental context. Located in the Sibaya Coastal Precinct, the design integrates darker, earthy interior tones and a material palette of local granite, basalt, concrete, sand, and sugar cane to echo the flowing motifs of the coastal setting.
With a focus on local artisanship and sustainable placemaking, the building uses a unique ‘layered circulation path’ to offer an experiential, exploratory retail journey.

The Noordhoek Equestrian Estate is a contemporary rural home. After years of collaboration with the client, he returned to us to realize a vision for his family’s new home and equestrian facilities. The architecture anchors bold brick and in-situ concrete into the dramatic mountain landscape, creating a sense of permanence and texture that responds sensitively to the Noordhoek valley.

The construction itself carries a unique legacy, built by his father-in-law. The level of craftsmanship ensures a cohesive dialogue between the primary residence and the stables, treating the equestrian infrastructure as a sophisticated extension of the home’s architectural narrative rather than a secondary structure.

By balancing clean horizontal lines with carefully framed views, the estate mediates between private living and the active paddocks and arena. The result is a human-centered environment where architecture and landscape are seamlessly integrated. There’s a profound connection to place and we’re happy to have been a part of it. Well done to everybody involved.

In this latest update from the Hidden House site, co-founder lan Gray explores the evolving material palette of the structure, specifically focusing on the newly revealed barrel vaults. The project utilises a sophisticated interplay of concrete finishes-ranging from the industrial grit of sandblasted and scabbled textures to the refined, “bone-white” smoothness of the interior barrel vaults. This contrast is designed to manage light and soften the visual weight of the massive cantilevered roof.
The integration of the landscape is also taking shape, with an organic, meandering path and natural rock steps introduced by landscape designer Carrie Latimer. This approach creates a structured yet natural transition from the master bedroom to the pool area, ensuring the architecture remains grounded within its environment.

As the formwork is gradually removed, the true effect of these floating planes becomes clear.
We’d love to hear your feedback and suggestions on the progress of this project!

The official launch of the Zimbali Lakes Clubhouse was a profound moment of architectural realisation, seeing our structural vision finally take its place on the prestigious Ernie Els Signature Golf Course. The project stands as a testament to the power of collaborative craft. Grateful for our close partnership with Mobius Interiors and a dedicated team at large. We are proud of our team for commitment to excellence. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this landmark coastal destination to life.

In the first of our new studio series, we sit down with Nicole R, our Durban Studio Director and Professional Architect. Nicole shares her personal journey, exploring how her deep-rooted passion for art and design informs her architectural practice and leadership.
From fostering a high-energy, social studio culture to navigating the unique synergy of the KZN North Coast ecosystem, Nicole gives us a glimpse into what drives our Durban team to deliver high-level architectural output every day.

Keep an eye on this space as we continue the series: we’ll be introducing you to the rest of the team and taking you on-site to see the projects we’re bringing to life across the North Coast.

The Zayed National Museum isn’t just a building; it’s a high-tech landmark where the desert finally finds its wings. Those five steel feathers don’t just pierce the sky—they harness it, reminding us that even history can be made to feel aerodynamic.

Approaching the structure, you realize the sun is a primary collaborator. The shadows play a sharp game of geometry across the stone, defining the building’s edges against the glare of the Saadiyat sun. Inside, the “pods” house the cultural soul of the Emirates, but the real genius lies in the thermal chimney effect. It is a silent, rhythmic breathing—the architecture inhaling the hot Arabian air and exhaling a cool, curated stillness.
Great architecture is best experienced when you stop trying to over-analyze it and simply let it vibrate against your retinas. This museum is a tribute to the wind, written in the language of structural steel and desert grit. The sands will continue their slow, ancient migration, but these wings look like they’ve finally found a reason to stop and stay a while.

It’s been incredible to see so much interest in the Hidden House project and the unique processes involved in bringing it to life.

In our latest update, Director, lan Gray takes us through the reveal of the barrel vaults. Stripping the formwork has unveiled the fascinating interplay between textures: the rough, scabbled concrete beams contrasting with the smooth, bone-colored finish of the vaults.

One of the more technical surprises was how the concrete seeped into the slots cut for bending the plywood formwork: a detail we’re refining to ensure the final structure remains as sleek and waterproof as intended.

Designed to sit low and “on-grade” with the landscape, Hidden House may appear double-storey from the internal courtyard, but it seamlessly integrates with its surrounding vineyards from the outside. We’re working hard to retain as much of the existing natural beauty as possible as construction continues.
