The shower had a constant bad smell, and the reason wasn't what the homeowner expected.

As we opened everything up, we discovered there was no U-trap installed. That means sewer gases from the drainage system are travelling straight back into the shower area.

Sometimes the source of a problem is hidden where nobody thinks to look.

Part of a major apartment renovation 👷‍♂️

The flat has been completely gutted, and now we're marking out the new layout. Kitchen counters, walls, bathrooms, and showers are all starting to take shape.

This is the stage where the vision starts becoming reality.

Now that we've exposed the shower, the extent of the failure is becoming clear.

The decorative screed coating has broken down from constant water exposure, and it's time to remove the failed material and prepare for a proper renovation.

Sometimes you only discover the full extent of the damage once the stripping starts.

This shower looked great when it was built... but there was one major problem 👷‍♂️

A decorative screed finish was used inside the shower, and over time the constant exposure to water caused it to fail.

What looked like a beautiful feature ended up needing a complete renovation.

Strong winds were the final straw... but the real problem had been developing for years 👷‍♂️

When we inspected this fence, we found that the poles had completely rotted below ground level. The wind simply exposed a problem that was already there.

Always check the condition of your fence posts before the next big storm arrives.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is fixing the obvious area without finding the true source of the problem.

In this case, the water was travelling before it became visible, making the real cause much harder to find.
