Many times I thought this Ariocarpus retuses to be dead. I have had it for around 7 years now, but it is much older than that. It has never flowered. Earlier this year, I considered dumping it. But today, she shows she is alive!

Astrophytum myriostigma is a naturally diverse species, but cactus enthusiasts have pushed those boundaries even further. The hobby has seen an explosion of unique cultivars—so many, in fact, that the list of names has become nearly impossible to track.
Since many of these varieties are simply named after their specific growers, don't get bogged down in the complex nomenclature. My advice? Forget the labels and simply collect the plants that catch your eye.
