Well it seems that I am now into semi-retirement so smaller projects from new house designs, extensions and alterations plans to municipal submission stage at extremely affordable rates while still offering excellent service will now be the order of day.

It is unwise to pay too much. But is worse to pay too little. When you pay too much you lose a little money... that is all. When you pay too little you can lose everything because the thing you paid for is incapable of doing the thing it was acquired to do. Would you ask a nurse to do a doctor's work. Architects train for 5 years at university then do a 2 year candidacy and write a "board" exam before they can register as an architect.. Shoulkd they not be paid accordingly for their services?
