Sustainable fish farms in South Sudan, one of the ways we can beat world hunger. The approach is more scientific than anything the South Sudanese communities had done before. The species raised - Tilapia - grows rapidly and can be easily cared for by youth or other trained community members. And now people can generate income that impacts their whole life, not just their hunger. It takes the concept of teaching a man to fish to a whole new level. Teach a man to fish, and he eats for a day. Teach a man to grow fish, and he eats for a lifetime. Please share comments and share your knowledge, let’s inspire and let’s take action. There are a bunch of celebrities who have teamed up with organizations to promote brands that donate revenue towards world hunger. For example the purchase of the energy drink from Rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson provides a meal to a hungry person. Fashion model Karlie Kloss sells totes, clutches and bracelets and every time a purchase is made the buyer is told exactly how many mouths they are feeding. Christina Aguilera – The American singer-songwriter is Yum! Brand’s global spokesperson, addressing world hunger through awareness and fundraising. The star is also an ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme and has helped raise $115 million. In South Africa one in four people currently suffer from hunger on a regular basis. The number of people facing hunger can be estimated at some 13 million in total.
Is anyone able to mention at least one South African celebrity who has teamed up with an organization to fight hunger in our country?

There are some things in this world that cannot be bargained, a no compromise situation. Food security is one of the worlds biggest challenges. The number of hungry people in the world has increased over the last few years. Now, as many as one in nine people in the world go hungry each day, and suffer from nutritional deficiencies as a result. The problem is not that we aren’t producing enough food, but rather that people lack access to food. Many people do not have enough money to purchase food and cannot grow their own. Nutritious food is often more expensive and, in some areas, access to healthy foods is restricted or even non-existent. When food prices rise, lower-income communities have no choice but to choose prepackaged, high-carb and high-sugar options. The UN is working to reduce the number of hungry people to zero by 2030. Let’s not turn a blind eye and leave it up to organisations like the UN, because you, us, and our children can make a difference. Surely we are the ones who should be helping people in our own town. Please help share your ideas, how are we supposed to do this?
