“Restored to its former glory for Disturbance Deisgn, 22 Prains Avenue, once a gracious period home is now a workspace for the company which according to the financial manager, Susie Hart, has resulted in a stuido that has wonderful flow, beautiful diffused lighting and continues to be a joy to work in.” - IOL: The Mercury | 8 February 2012

One can find so much joy in the little details, making this building such a special gem.
The texture on the underside of the staircase is achieved using timber planks lining the formwork. This echoes the beautiful timber floors along the main circulation axis.
The reception area is backed by lightboxes imprinted with Disturbance images. This illuminates the recessed space and lends a playful atmosphere to the reception.

The building provides a blank canvas, allowing the textures and reliefs to give character to the space. The structural elements and furniture pieces become sculptural objects, serving as functional and aesthetic exclamations.

Located on the crest of Durban's Berea, House Barrow benefits from a magnificent view of the city and harbour, over the beautiful, lush indigenous garden.
The overwhelming beauty of the site and it's surroundings are allowed to stream into the home through generous and considered openings, allowing an ever-changing spatial character, in harmony with the mood of the city.
