I have not seen red disas (Disa uniflora) in the wild for very many years. My daughter, Katie, went hiking in the beautiful Banhoek, en came across these little gems.

With the Open Gardens and final the garden tours now past, I can look at my garden less critically, and just enjoy the beauty of the contoured garden/rehabilitation project. The hot weather has not been great for the plants, but there is still plenty of colour.
Ian's garden is still my farourite level.

The first open garden weekend attracted many visitors, though the garden went very quiet in the late afternoon with most people rushing home to be ready for the rugby. After the nailbiting victory, there were many happy faces on Sunday! And predictably a later start!
The tractor ride to the developing garden at Sonop was once again popular. This lovely young lady loved the white King protea.....

This is the what the Shot Hole Borer damage will look like if it has attacked one of your trees. Please read up about it and let the authorities know if you have it, as they are trying to prevent its spread. It's spread would be devastating to our tree population. It has been detected in Somerset West and a few of the suburbs of Cape Town.

This is the lovely foliage of the Hosta plant. They come in a wonderful array of leaf shadings. They are shade loving plants that die back in winter but make a wonderful display during the summer months. They are loved by snails so you need to be vigilant!
