Smhart is an event security specialist, having event managers on the team to ensure complete peace in mind throughout the event by developing and implementing a strategic and flawless event security plan. We currently employ more than 250 workers and have 75 vehicles on the road, including high speed and off-road vehicle fleets. At approximately 03:34 AM, Smhart Security Control Room received an alarm activation from a property in Siyabulela Street, Cradock. A response officer was immediately dispatched to investigate.

Upon arrival and after conducting a site inspection, the officer observed members of the community pursuing a male suspect believed to be linked to the incident.

The suspect had sustained serious injuries after being assaulted by members of the public.
SAPS was immediately requested and arrived on scene shortly thereafter. Due to the severity of the suspect’s injuries, he was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

The client was informed and attended the premises. The matter was officially handed over to SAPS for further investigation, and a criminal case will be opened.

Another Positive Arrest for Smhart Security Jeffreys Bay Response Team

A job well done to our dedicated Jeffreys Bay Response Team following another successful arrest involving a suspect found in possession of stolen copper pipes.

The suspect was apprehended and the matter was handled accordingly, ensuring that stolen property was recovered and further criminal activity was prevented.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our response officers for their vigilance, professionalism, and commitment to protecting our community. On 8 June 2026, the R330 between St Francis Bay and Humansdorp was temporarily closed as residents participated in a peaceful community march associated with the Abahambe March and March Movement.

The march commenced on the R330 near the Humansdorp SPCA before proceeding along Main Road towards the town centre. Participants later gathered at the Humansdorp Police Station, where a memorandum containing community concerns was formally handed over to SAPS representatives.

During interviews conducted at the event, community representatives highlighted several concerns affecting local residents, including allegations of illegal immigration, drug abuse impacting children, RDP housing allegedly occupied by undocumented foreign nationals, and claims of expired food products being sold by certain local businesses.

Smhart Security was present throughout the event in support of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and local Traffic Department officials. Our members remained on standby to assist should any incidents or emergencies arise, helping to ensure that the march proceeded peacefully and safely.

We would like to thank all role players, law enforcement agencies, and community members for maintaining order and conducting the event in a responsible manner.

SMHART SECURITY – INCIDENT REPORT

Incident: Detainment of Suspect for Trespassing and Housebreaking Investigation
Date: 31 May 2026
Time Received: 12:29

On 31 May 2026 at approximately 12:29, Response Officer 1 received information from Delta 1, regarding suspicious activity at a property.

Resp 1 responded immediately and arrived at the location, standing down at 12:33 in front of the main gate. Delta 1 arrived on scene shortly thereafter.

Upon making contact with the female occupant of the property, she initially advised that there was no cause for concern. However, information was subsequently obtained from a neighbouring resident who witnessed a tall male suspect jumping over the property’s main gate.

Following further investigation and the presentation of witness information, the occupant disclosed that the suspect was hiding inside the residence. The suspect then voluntarily surrendered to Response 1 and Delta 1.

During questioning, additional information came to light regarding the suspect’s unlawful presence on the property. Senior Charlie Shift member also attended the scene to provide support.

South African Police Service (SAPS) was contacted, and Constable Timothy responded to the scene. The suspect was taken into custody, and a case was registered under Case Number 202.

Further checks confirmed that the suspect is currently linked to an active parole matter.

This successful detainment was the result of months of dedicated follow-up work, monitoring, and persistence by Delta 1 and the Jeffrey’s Bay Response Team. Their commitment and patience ultimately led to the successful apprehension of the suspect and the resolution of ongoing concerns relating to the property.

Die landbougemeenskap in die streek verkeer onder geweldige druk weens voortdurende veediefstal, plundering en misdaad wat nie net ernstige finansiële skade veroorsaak nie, maar ook mense se gevoel van veiligheid en vertroue afbreek.

Die samewerking tussen die polisie, sekuriteitsmaatskappye, boere en gemeenskappe is van kardinale belang indien landelike misdaad suksesvol bekamp wil word. Hierdie optrede wys wat moontlik is wanneer rolspelers saamwerk en vinnig reageer op inligting uit die gemeenskap.
