The final post on solar;
Solar enthusiasts have repeatedly asked me about my Zim solar system specifics.
I use 8 BYD battery modules, 4 inverters (2 SMA sunny boy red) and (2 SMA Sunny Island yellow), and 24 Canadian solar panels at 415 watts each.
To multi-purpose the space where the system is fitted, the area is also my dog kennel for my three Boerboel dogs.
I imported the kit from South Africa, I have no idea how much it costs in Zimbabwe, and I don’t know whether it is available here.
But for now, it is the market leader in solar, they are ahead of Victron in terms of efficiency and reliability.
When stolen, it can easily be located due to security features I won’t mention here.
If you are buying locally available stuff….
You can get good Pylontech lithium batteries from Lucky Brand in Msasa, they are the cheapest.
Their batteries come with a 7 year guarantee if they are fitted by their recommended fitter and 2 year guarantee if fitted by someone not on their recommended list.
Solar panels; I bought from Nations Hardware at Sam Levy.
Buy Canadian solar panels, they charge even if it is overcast or raining.
I bought inverters for my village at Samansco in Samora Machel, after Glenara Road.
Don’t pick people from the road to fit the system for you, ask the people who sell the equipment to give you their recommended fitters.
This is very important because if you use someone they don’t recommend, it invalidates the guarantees.
I don’t usually do fix and supply because the guarantee belongs to the fitter and not to you unless the fitter is the shop.
But these are adult decisions that you should make on your own beyond my advice.
Solar systems are designed according to your energy needs and your pocket, don’t say “…ndinoda yaDaddy Hope.”
Choose what suits your energy needs and your pocket.
I hope my solar series was helpful to you.
