Serving the Kouga and Kou-kamma Municipalities, this critical organization operates the only specialized GBVF shelter in the entire Sarah Baartman District—saving the lives of individuals, young teenage girls, and boys facing a national crisis.

After years of operating a short-term, 3-day safe home, the organization reached a massive milestone in 2025 by securing a larger, better facility in Joubertina, allowing them to accommodate survivors for up to six months. Backed by a dedicated team of professional housemothers, a project manager, and a qualified social worker, the center provides comprehensive care to help clients heal and function in a healthy manner.

However, renovating this vital new space has been an uphill battle due to a lack of adequate funding. A floor and paint makeover would be entirely transformative, completing the puzzle to make this long-term shelter fully operational, safe, and welcoming. It would create an immediate "wow" factor, restoring dignity and sending a powerful message of hope to survivors across the Eastern Cape and South Africa as a whole.

However, maintaining a massive facility is a heavy burden. The roofs, window frames, and bedrooms are in desperate need of repair, while the high-traffic TV rooms, dining areas, and hallways require a serious makeover with durable, low-maintenance finishes suitable for wheelchair-bound residents.

Funded purely by generous donors and their annual 12-day Nickel Christmas Market, Kungwini stretches every cent to prioritize immediate care. ❤🏆Since January 2007, Khazimula Children’s Home has provided a stable, round-the-clock haven for vulnerable children, currently caring for 20 young lives aged 3 to 16. Operating out of a former farm school in KZN, the organization stretches every resource—including limited state subsidies—to ensure these children have food, clothing, healthcare, and education.

While their dormitory block was upgraded a few years ago, the absolute heart of the home—the Kitchen and Dining Hall—is in urgent need of care. This vital shared space is where meals are prepared and where the children gather to watch TV, play games, and do homework. Currently, the ceilings are deteriorating, the kitchen vinyl is worn out, and the original hall floors and small carpeted stage are no longer safe or hygienic.

While Khazimula is already working hard to prioritize urgent ceiling repairs, a floor and paint makeover would complete the transformation. Proper, easy-to-clean flooring and fresh paint aren't luxuries here—they are fundamental to health, food safety, and dignity. This makeover would lighten the organization's heavy financial burden and turn this essential hub into a clean, beautiful space where these children can proudly eat, learn, and grow.

Decades of dedicated service have taken a toll on their infrastructure. Floors are worn, paint is peeling, and everyday living spaces urgently need restoration. As an NPO, their limited resources—even with state subsidies and their annual Christmas Light Festival—must always prioritize immediate needs like food, clothing, and education over structural maintenance.

A floor and paint makeover would do so much more than just repair buildings; it would restore dignity, uplift spirits, and lighten the heavy financial burden on this wonderful organization. Most importantly, it would transform these tired houses back into a warm, safe haven where 230 young lives can heal, grow, and thrive.
