A beautiful bedroom should do more than look good. It should work around the way you live.

This custom-made blockout roller blind was chosen to complement the room while giving the homeowner control over natural light, privacy and comfort. From the colour and fit to the way the blind operates, the little details make all the difference.

At Shuttec, we believe a great result starts with understanding your space and what matters to you. Every home is different, and your window coverings should be too.

The default assumption about window treatments is neutral. White, cream, charcoal — colours that recede and let the room speak for itself.

But a room that is already confident can carry something more deliberate. Printed fabrics — florals, geometrics, abstracts — are not statement pieces. They are decisions about colour, intention, and the kind of space you want to inhabit.

Blindquip's printed Bespoke fabric range is made for rooms with conviction.

An open-plan living room is not a single window problem. It is five or six of them — each with a different orientation, a different purpose, and a different light condition at different hours of the day.

East-facing windows in the morning. West-facing in the afternoon. The kitchen window above the counter. The sliding door to the garden. The view you want to keep and the glare you do not.

This is what a proper Blindquip consultation is for: not choosing one blind, but choosing the right blind for each window in the space.

Budget blind: approximately R300. Replace it in 18 months: another R300. Do that twice in five years: R900 — for a blind that was never quite the right size for a single day of its life.

A custom Blindquip blind is manufactured to the exact millimeter of your window. Backed by a three-year warranty. Built under a strict quality control standard. Lifespan well beyond five years.

The upfront cost is higher. The total cost over any meaningful period is not.

Custom is not paying more. It is not paying twice.

Assembled in South Africa. Manufactured to Hunter Douglas Group standards. Here is what that combination means in practice.

Hunter Douglas is the world's largest window covering manufacturer — operating across 100-plus countries. The components in a Blindquip blind are sourced through the same international supply chains that support some of the world’s largest and most established blind manufacturers.

Three South African offices. Local service and national presence. A quality standard benchmarked against the best in the world. We have been doing this since 1989.

The light in June is not the light of summer. It comes in low, at an angle, and — with the right window treatment — it becomes the best design feature in your room.

Screen fabric in the morning. Blockout at night. This is how a South African winter works best: not as something to shut out, but as something to work with.

The difference between a room that feels cold and a room that feels like a retreat is almost always the window.

ShutterX was built for security. What our clients did with it next was not something we planned for.

Entrance halls. Home libraries. Feature walls. ShutterX started appearing in spaces with no security requirement at all — because the architectural quality of the product was exactly what those spaces needed. Industrial. Considered. A design decision, not a retrofit.

The security function is still there and fully operational everywhere it is installed. But what is on display is something else entirely.

It is the kind of product that makes a room.
