BAREFOOT BURGLAR APPREHENDED

On Friday, 22 May, at approximately 02:00, Allsound Security received a report from a resident in Lake Brenton that an intruder was on their premises. After reviewing the resident's CCTV footage, Allsound recognised the suspect as a repeat offender in the area who had been released from prison less than a week earlier.
Two response vehicles were dispatched to patrol the Lake Brenton area and search for the suspect, while other officers took up strategic positions. At approximately 03:45, a report was received that someone had attempted to break into a garage on CR Swart Drive in Brenton-on-Sea. Allsound continued its patrols and maintained its positions while waiting for the suspect.
At approximately 06:20, the patience paid off when members of the Allsound Tactical Team spotted the suspect on the railway line near the N2 on the town side. The suspect was cornered and handed over to SAPS, along with suspected stolen property found in his possession.
Later that day, Allsound was notified by the Lake Brenton Neighbourhood Watch of a break-in that had occurred during the night at a property in Brenton Park. A backpack containing various items was found hidden near the property, and the owners identified the items found earlier on the suspect as belonging to them. SAPS was notified, and a case was opened to link the suspect to the incident.
The owner reported that some items were still missing and had not been found on the suspect or in the backpack. Allsound assisted SAPS and members of the community in searching for the outstanding items, but they have not yet been recovered.
The suspect remains in custody after his bail application was opposed by the investigating detective and the prosecutor.

OLD PLACE CRIME ALERT

Since the beginning of May 2026, Allsound has received 14 reports of incidents in Upper and Lower Old Place. The streets with the highest activity have been:
* Herons Way – 4 incidents, 3 arrests
* Milkwood Drive – 3 incidents
* Salie Street – 2 incidents, 1 arrest
* Kamdebo Street – 2 incidents
* Kamassie Street – 1 incident
* Sandpiper Street – 1 incident
* Bokmakierie Street – 1 incident
The incidents have ranged from break-ins at sheds and storerooms to the theft of items such as copper wire and pipes, as well as intruders entering properties.
The four arrests made involved three suspected copper thieves and one intruder. Some stolen copper, along with tools used to cut the copper, was also recovered.
Residents are urged to make use of their alarm systems, especially outdoor beams when they are at home, and to ensure that outside buildings such as sheds and storerooms are also connected to alarm systems. Cases should be opened with the police, as every reported incident contributes to helping law enforcement get and keep criminals behind bars.
The lack of neighbourhood watch CCTV cameras remains a challenge when it comes to identifying and stopping perpetrators before they reach homes. This underlines the importance of ensuring that private home security measures are used as effectively as possible.
