Heatherhill Herbs

Heatherhill Herbs We propagate a wide range of herb plants and food garden plants using organic methods. From the herb garden we pack and dry herbs for easy kitchen use.

We strive to use natural products and local organic materials and aim to use methods that are without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Heatherhill Herbs is on a small holding in the hills above Knysna on the Rheenendal Road. We propagate a wide range of herb plants (culinary, medicinal, fragrant, indigenous) and food garden plants (vegetable seedlings, various fruits) using organic m

ethods. In the shop you will find our range of healing teas, creams and ointments all made from pure ingredients, as well as other treasures. We strive to use natural products and organic materials derived from the farm or sourced from the surrounding area. We aim to use methods that are without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals. The Heatherhill Herbs was started by Jayne Fearon as a very small nursery in 1992. Jayne is a Herbologist (a person that collects, grows and studies herb plants and their therapeutic benefits) and a Naturopath (a system of alternative medicine based on the theory that diseases can be successfully treated or prevented without the use of drugs, by techniques such as control of diet, exercise, and relaxation therapies). In the early days Jayne chaired the local branch of the Herb Association of Southern Africa HAOSA, arranging workshops and outings for over 10 years. She studied yearlong courses with qualified medicinal herbalists and participated in lectures and workshops. She has travelled to see how herbs are used elsewhere. These days her travels are closer to home, studying more about the healing indigenous plants of the beautiful Klein Karoo. The nursery has since become a family run business, but has kept the charm and unique touch that is Heatherhill Herbs!

At last — the soil is wet, the dams are filling, and the season is turning in our favour.
Good rain changes everything in the garden.
This is the moment to get back into growing your own food — when plants establish faster, roots run deeper, and nature does half the work for you.
If you’ve been waiting for the right time to start (or restart) your veggie patch or herb garden, this is it. Healthy, locally grown seedlings and herb plants ready to go straight into grateful ground.

Heatherhill Herb Nursery

At Heatherhill, all our stock is produced right here on the farm — from seed or slip through to sale. We mix our own soils, grow in tune with the seasons and care for every plant naturally.
What you take home has been raised to suit our local conditions and is ready to thrive in your garden. We strive to produce and price our plants so food gardens can flourish with variety and abundance.
Grown locally, with care.
