In the course of development, as architects we are guided by our clients’ requests. The ability to refine spoken word into functional and constructible drawings takes some know how. After all, we are taking spoken word and turning it into drawings that are actionable precisely to fit within the parameters to the millimetre, thousands of an inch, 0.0610237 of an inch to be accurate.
Utilising this new tool we have is impressive, being artificial intelligence. Yet it tends to want to take the place of the lead architect and does not understand the implications there of, of not following the design as is instructed. It makes for rather pleasing presentations. Yet, we simply cannot add some of these renders to the final pitch.
This is one of the designs we were commissioned to make for rental apartments. Spatial constrains allowed for the said apartments to be predominantly fixed to 15 square meters or 49.2126 square feet. Leeway was utilised at certain points to meet the desired shape of it from the client.
We what prompts could do with actual architectural experience and know how. What do you think?
Are architects jobs still safe?
Are will still a valuable part of the economy?
They are both beautiful, prompts had to be refined for the second one to get it closer to the desired outcome from us and the client.
There is honestly no point if the clients’ wants & needs are not met. That is what we strive for. Yes, design is our forte; however, does our work serve the purpose it was meant to initially. That is what is important. That is what gets built.
Is that a guardrail on the first one for a window? It is a guardrail. Balustrading in the place of a window, someone is not going to sleep well at night. There will be zero privacy there. Zero functionality. Should it be built as per the render, well. That’s A.I construction for you, A.I understanding and adaptation of technical drawings.
