Not all fireplaces are built the same… and understanding the difference can make all the difference 🔥
Cast iron fireplaces are made by pouring molten iron into moulds. This gives them that classic, slightly textured look and, more importantly, the ability to hold heat for much longer. Even after the fire dies down, your space stays warm.
Steel fireplaces, on the other hand, are shaped and bent into form, giving them a sleeker, more modern design with sharper lines. They’re designed to push heat out quickly through convection, making them great for fast heat. Most also include vermiculite lining or internal components to improve efficiency.
So what’s the difference in simple terms?
Cast iron = long-lasting, steady heat
Steel = quick, efficient heat output
