Showcasing House Joubert. One of our renovation and addition projects that is getting ready for council submission. The brief; redo exterior cladding and roofing, introduce new double storey bedroom wing with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, new double garage with exterior patio ontop, re organise interior layouts, new front door entrance and approach to house, redo interior with opening up living spaces and create seamless flow inside to outside, new kitchen design and bathrooms. In essence we looked at how we can achieve a open and fun holiday home that maximises living spaces with a fresh coastel exterior look that ties in with Nature's valley.

New design concept....How do we capture the essence of a project in the early conceptual stages? Combining the fundamentals of traditional model building with digital modeling, we explore the form and how the design intigrates with the site. Handrawn sketches form the baseline reference for the model. By doing this at the early stages of conceptualising it allows us to first shape and carve the design more freely as you would with a piece of clay. Hence the term "clay render". We understand the significance of the design process as it produces contextual and responsive architecture.

An amazing 10 minute presentation was done recently by Danie of Skin Architects and Interiors

SKIN Architects and Interiors are noted for sensitive and humane design, ranging from residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Our philosophy is to think of the design from both the exterior and interior perspective.

SKIN, as a design studio functions in both realms of Architecture and Interior design. Working alongside our clients, we take their vision and dreams and make it a reality. We know how stressful building can be. For most people it will be the biggest investment they will make. We try to lessen those “grey areas” in construction by making use of Building Information Modelling, or BIM, technology. This means we create detailed 3D models that integrate seamlessly with our drawings.

This allows our clients and contractors to truly see their project before it's built. It helps builders identify and solve potential problems before they arise, saving time and money. Essentially, we try and eliminate the guesswork in construction.

We’re passionate about creating beautiful and functional designs, and giving you the best service for your investment. Responsible design is at our core, and executed well, the design will become timeless and its lifespan will exceed the limits of a style or trend.

We consider architecture to be a profession that should serve the public. Incorporating sustainable design and acknowledging the natural environment, is of utmost importance. The people are the end users of the designed space, we try to understand exactly what their needs are and how the design can contribute to that. Our objective as a firm can be sumarized as follows: “We create places and spaces for people!”
