Ilovani is passionate about sustainability; using timber from accredited sources ; implementing recovery programs – creating accessories from wood ‘off-cuts’ and utilizing redundant ‘wine barrel oak’ in functional designs. We create handcrafted furniture and homeware from recycled wine barrels, giving new life to beautifully aged oak once used in South African wineries. Each piece carries the warm

th and character of the barrel’s history, with natural wine stains and rich textures that make every creation one-of-a-kind. Our collection includes tables, swing chairs, loveseats, and décor items — all locally made and designed with sustainability and craftsmanship at heart. By choosing our furniture, you’re not only investing in timeless design but also helping reduce waste and support local artisans. Each piece is individually hand crafted, inspired by the distinctive character of the carefully chosen local timber, selected for its character. The result is an organic fusion of natural elements and metal which has become Ilovani’s trademark. Interesting alternatives to the indigenous wood creations are the furniture items crafted from recovered Wine Barrels.

ILOVANI has been creating furniture from the workshop on the Murray farm in Harkerville since 1996. Today, we have a team of three skilled artisans who make furniture, homeware and décor from reclaimed wine barrels, oak and locally sourced Cape Blackwood.



My own journey as a maker started at around 10 years old, when I learnt to turn wood on my father’s lathe. That early passion for creating led me through a variety of creative businesses before bringing me to the Garden Route 15 years ago.



A chance meeting with Lisa Murray from The Heath introduced me to ILOVANI, and today I am the owner and designer of this business which combines craftsmanship, creativity and sustainability.



What I love most is transforming raw materials into pieces that become part of people’s homes and lives for many years to come.



Today you can find us at Yellowoods Centre in Main Street, Plettenberg Bay, and we look forward to welcoming you there.
