🌿 Clivia season is almost here 💛✨

One of the joys of winter gardening is watching clivias begin to emerge from the cold ❄️🌱 Their lush green foliage provides structure throughout the year, while their beautiful blooms bring a welcome burst of colour just when many other plants are resting 🌼

A reminder that even in winter, the garden is quietly preparing for something beautiful 🌿💚

A garden is more than plants 🌿🦋🐝

When we plant thoughtfully, we create spaces for birds 🐦, bees 🐝, butterflies 🦋, and countless other creatures. These visitors help pollinate flowers 🌸, support healthy ecosystems 🌱, and bring movement and life to the garden.

One of the greatest joys of gardening is watching nature make itself at home 💚✨

One of the most beautiful parts of a garden is that it’s always changing 🌿

Light shifts, seasons move on, grasses sway in the wind, and no two days ever look quite the same. A good garden isn’t static - it’s alive 🌈

A little sunshine at last ☀️🌼

After weeks of rain and grey skies, the garden finally had a chance to breathe again 🌿 The colder weather may still be settling in, but moments like these are a reminder that there’s beauty in every season ❄️✨

Even in winter, the garden always finds a way to brighten things up 💛

After last week’s flooding and severe winds, many gardens - and many people - have taken strain. Our thoughts are with everyone affected 🙏

When it’s safe to begin cleanup, these steps can help gardens recover:

• Clear blocked drains and channels so standing water can escape
• Use gravel, bark mulch, or stepping stones in muddy areas to reduce further damage and improve drainage
• Loosen compacted soil gently with a garden fork once it begins drying out
• Lift flattened plants carefully and stake young trees if needed
• Remove broken branches with clean cuts to prevent disease
• Avoid walking repeatedly on waterlogged lawns, as this compacts the soil even more
• Hold off on fertilising until plants show signs of new recovery growth

Recovery takes time, but with patience and a gentle approach, most gardens are far more resilient than they first appear🌷

Heavy rain on the way? A few simple steps can help protect your garden 🌧️🌿

• Check that drains and gutters are clear
• Add mulch to reduce soil erosion and runoff
• Support tall or newly planted plants before strong wind and rain
• Avoid overwatering ahead of rainfall
• Check pots have proper drainage to prevent root rot

A little preparation now can help your garden recover much better after the storms pass.

Every garden needs a focal point 🌿

Something that draws the eye and anchors the space - whether it’s a feature tree, a statement pot, or a simple pathway. Without it, a garden can feel busy or unfinished.

Good design isn’t about adding more, it’s about knowing where to focus.

Sometimes it’s not just about the plants - it’s about the textures 🌿

The contrast between soft grasses, structured shrubs, natural stone, and groundcover is what gives a garden depth and interest. Thoughtful layering is what brings a space to life 🪨🌾💐

Getting your garden winter-ready 🌿
As temperatures drop, a little preparation now makes all the difference.

• Add mulch to protect roots and improve soil
• Lightly tidy beds and remove dead growth
• Check drainage before winter rains
• Plant trees and shrubs while soil is still warm
• Gradually reduce watering as rainfall returns

A bit of care now sets your garden up for a healthy spring 🌼
