A PLUS NURSERY is situated on a farm, between Pongola and Louwsburg, in the north east of Natal.
The farm is surrounded by mountains, with a mountain stream
flowing through it, ensuring a pollution free environment.
The farm is frost free.
The farm has a 2,5 ha Macadamia orchard. We are in the process of planting new cultivar mother plants, to be
used as future grafting material. As mentioned, water is sourced from a fresh mountain stream (Ntutshe River),
which is tested regularly to ensure a pristine water source to the nursery.
Trees ready for dispatch, are typically 18-24 months old, grafted to client specified cultivars, and have a
standard of two hardened off flushes. The 5lt bags used for the duration of the plants growth in the nursery,
creates a well developed root system, resulting in a world class tree.
The nursery has 4 hail net covered houses, with a holding capacity of 160 000 seedlings, on raised platforms and
fitted with a micro irrigation system.
We have a germinating house, with under floor heating and temperature control, to optimise seed germination.
Specially selected nuts (Beaumont cultivar) are used as root stock. Grafting wood is sourced from a reputable
SAMAC accredited orchard
A PLUS NURSERY is a SAMAC nursery and grower member, and in the process of full SAMAC nursery accreditation.
The nursery is DAFF registered (No77680001).
Cultivars
Rootstocks
The standard rootstock is from the Beaumont 695 cultivar, sourced from a reputable Grower. Large quantities
of rootstock can be ordered in advance (12 months) which enables the buyer to select the latest and
best cultivars for grafting on a future date.
Three months prior to grafting, the client will be contacted to finalise the specific cultivars.
