This month’s hero of sustainability is French Architect Jacques Couëlle. His unique organic designs inspired by nature set him apart from most of his contemporaries and even got him the moniker ‘architect of billionaires’. A highly eccentric figure, he was close friends with legendary artists like Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí, who heavily influenced his avant-garde, flowing style. Key works like Hotel Cala di Volpe and Villa Goupil remains deeply respected in the design community.

The South African team, led by Landscape designer Leon Kluge, have clinched another win at this year’s RHS Chelsea flower show in London showcasing once again the incredible biodiversity of the Cape Floral Region.

Luckily for all of us who were unable to see their exhibition with our own eyes, this award winning display will be recreated in full at the ‘Stanford in Bloom’ festival in Stanford later this year in September so mark it on your calendar!

This month’s concept design introduces a new elevated park in the square between the Pretoria City Hall and the Ditsong National Museum of Natural History. By reclaiming an underutilized, historically contentious space for the people of Pretoria, this design breathes new life into the area—offering a serene place of rest while actively greening the city center.
Featuring 6,510 sqm of vibrant parkland and 1,934 sqm of curated retail space, the scheme strives to reconnect our heritage structures with the community, redefining the identity of our beautiful, dynamic city.
What do you think of this concept? Would you like to see the Pretoria CBD become more pedestrian-friendly and green? Leave your comments below! 👇

By 2050, nearly 70% of the global population are predicted to live in cities. The big question is: Will our cities be hostile concrete jungles, or thriving, green ecosystems?

Singapore chose the latter. By turning architectural designs into vertical gardens and linking parks and green spaces with wildlife corridors, they bought endangered species back from the brink while giving residents healthier, happier places to live.

If Singapore can do it, why can’t we? From installing wildlife bridges to championing indigenous plants, every city has the potential to reclaim its unique ecological identity.

Tap the link in our bio to discover vital lessons we can learn from Singapore to help restore local ecosystems and reshape the towns and cities we call home.

Sheep wool is a natural, renewable resource that can be recycled and is biodegradable. It also requires less energy to manufacture than other products. With a R-value generally 0.3-0.6 points higher then alternative insulation materials and it’s ability to regulate moisture and clean air it is in all ways superior to conventional insulation.

Think of a healthy, diverse landscape as the ultimate insurance policy for your property.

While a traditional lawn offers a nice green carpet, its shallow roots often stay near the surface, meaning it lacks the “deep-down” grip needed to truly anchor the earth. To get that structural security, we have to look a little deeper.

By fostering a dense, vibrant ecosystem, you’re enlisting a team of underground architects. Here’s why it’s a game-changer for your land:

Nature’s Glue: Deep-reaching root systems and mycelium networks weave through the earth like a living fabric, keeping soil stable even against heavy flooding or wave action.

A Natural Sponge: Healthy, diverse plantings create permeable soil that “drinks” the rain. Instead of water rushing over the surface, it soaks in deeply, nourishing your plants and keeping your slopes and banks firm.

Lasting Resilience: Moving beyond the lawn creates a landscape that doesn’t just look beautiful—it stays put.

Investing in soil health is the most natural way to keep your property safe, secure, and thriving for the long haul!

Any garden, no matter how small can become a habitat that can support biodiversity and local wildlife.

This garden was installed in November 2025 and at first our client was concerned about how sparse it looked. Now, a mere six months later, the garden has grown into a self sufficient haven for birds and insects alike.

Suburban gardens are more than just an occasional place to entertain friends and family, but are becoming vitally important to support wildlife in our cities.

Do you have a lackluster or dated garden you would like to redesign to be more resilient, water wise and affordable? Contact us today by using the link in our bio.
